The Ducks BB Team is in first place.....

Personally, I never understood the Kent hate.
I liked Ernie...although I questioned him playing his son Jordan big minutes...Jordan Kent was an incredible track star, but not much of a basketball player.

Oregon's top 5 in the country in RPI. They're still underrated nationally, just like every other team in the Pac-12 except for Arizona (they're overrated).

It's not supposed to be a smug, condescending attitude, which is what it currently is.

The smugness reminds me of Seahawks fans. Which is very likely because there are a lot of hawks and ducks fans.

I'm not a huge fan of huskies either. Went to the game in Seattle a year or so ago against the Beavs. wore an orange hoody under my jacket and some drunk dude got up close to me yelling "it's not hunting season boy"

Okkkkkkkkkkk

I've been to my fair share of OSU football games over the years and I can say, without reservation that Duck fans are the worst. They've forgotten the days when they were mediocre or worse. A bunch of boorish poor sports. Even the females. Husky fans are a very close second. Surprisingly enough, I've found the USC fans to be the classiest.

Smug comes from very little competition. It vanishes when someone is humbled. Duck fans haven't been humbled by the Beavs or Huskies in a long time.

Yep. And the bandwagon ducks fans will go away.

My buddy is a niners fan. He said he was at work and a guy was talking about the Seahawks after they lost to carolina. Said he. Was never a football fan until about four years ago. Said he has learned in that four Years not to get so worked up about it so he was gonna take a couple years of fandom off.

How convenient

Beavs ruled baseball for a long stretch...humbled the Ducks baseball program regularly..Ducks are finally having some baseball success but the Beavers were the best in the nation not so long ago

Very true. The difference is usc acts like they've been there before. And they are tired of little bitches (in their eyes) pounding their chests and acting like they are champions when they haven't even won anything yet

And the ducks were so jelly of that national exposure, they decided it was time to start a baseball team themselves

Pat Casey is a future HOF baseball coach without a doubt

Man..... college baseball is even less interesting than major league baseball.

Well. At least you didn't say you HATED the sport. I appreciate that. You know, just like I don't tell people that 12 months of being carpet bombed with non stop football first coverage on ESPN is absolutely annoying. But baseball cynics will go out of the way to tell you how much they HATE the sport. The answer to a question nobody asked....

I don't hate baseball. I used to love playoff baseball because it was the only thing that actually felt like the same level of intensity as most other sports.

The simple truth is that baseball has way way way too many regular season games.

I would agree you and they are talking about getting rid of about two weeks worth of the regular season. As for the playoffs, I don't know if that's possible. With what 30 teams, the gradual expanse of the playoffs was an eventuality.

I don't have an issue with criticism of the game. Every sport can use tweeks, here and there. Baseball just implimented some more changes last week to increase the pace of the game.

But I've found that's it's never good enough. The press has astroturfed this idea that everything is wrong with the game. Every year you read that baseball is dying and the sport is on the out. The truth is they have a die hard fan base (sort of like NASCAR) and a great commissioner in Rob Manfred. The critics are fine.... but the people who hate people need to get bent. They hopped on a mob mentality that isn't a fad anymore.

If we had a team, I would probably watch, but there's just nothing to get me interested. I won't support the Mariners and I haven't found a reason to get excited about it.

Instead I can make a thread that says, "The Beavers bb team is in 10th place." That way both teams would have a thread.

The Beavs still have a basketball team? I thought they disbanded it after Corey Benjamin.

My bad, Kent took them to TWO elite eights. Once with the guys above, and once with Aaron brooks, Bryce Taylor, Malik hairston, maarty leunen and tajuan porter.

Don't be greedy ducks fans. Kent did well even if most of you hated him.

Typical great recruiter, horrible in game coach. His offense consisted of rolling the ball out there and relying on shooters to knock em down.

Anybody remember James Davis on that Luke, Luke and Fred team? Or Anthony Lever? More great shooters.

Davis was tiny, like 5'7", but man could he shoot. I watched him in high school at Evergreen and actually played Aaron Miles real well. Might have got the better of him.

Got tickets to see the Ducks tomorrow night against Colorado...going to enjoy it

It's amazing that Oregon and OSU have had so many great basketball players but you wouldn't really call it a college basketball haven. No state or city college program has ever been able to capture the momentum of a truly continously successful program.

Local fans always say, "Whatever happened to that guy who shot the ball in that game back in 1980? I can remember picture the name but not the face...." hehehe

The Ducks will never become a standard college football power. They don't have the recruiting base or the money..... sorry, folks, let that truth sink in. (And yes, I am a Ducks fan.) Oregon coaches go about recruiting kids like they are looking for candidates in an ABC after-school special. The phrase "Is he an Oregon kid?" is becoming as exclusive as having a decent 40 time and blood pumping through his body.

But they MIGHT be able to keep a coach like Altman happy and get a Natty someday that way. Or we can keep going to the Big Dance and losing to 5 star freaks of nature. Football brings in big money and Oregon is a minnow state. Truth.

I remember that offensive style and it drove me nuts.

I remember who was shooting at OSU in 1980 and he was a good one!

Yeah. I interviewed at his hotel once in Tualatin. He's a really nice guy. I wish there were more local ball players that we could identify with like Sitton, Freddie Jones and Luke Jackson. Hopefully, Payton Pritchard will be the next one when he plays in Eugene next year. I don't know how Altman pulled him away from Lon Kruger and Oklahoma but great job!

Mark Helfrich couldn't pull an apple fritter away from a maple bar. What a terrible recruiter.

Pritchards going to Oregon now? Interesting.

Played West Linn in summer ball a couple years ago. Our hybrid zone gave him fits.
