How might/will this be addressed?

........Bueller?

Simons is going to get a chance at this.

CJ is the 3rd string PG.

So your asking if we have a 4th string PG, no we do not. That's fine, there is no urgent need.

There are many who think Simons is not quite ready for that role. Personally, I disagree with that notion....but that's just me. While Stotts is not generally known to play kiddos much...especially now that the team has well passed a 1st Round exit, coupled with a much higher standard....I think he should roll the dice on this kid!

Why not get some security in case Simons fails in that role? We expect the kid to go from 0 to hero. PG is not easy at all and I have my doubts Simons is gonna be a PG in the future anyway.

If this ends up being the final roster, Stotts won't have much choice whether he likes it or not. Kid will have to play some PG and basically be thrown into the fire. I'm guessing Olshey knows that if he were to go get a veteran PG, that is who Stotts would play.

How is your this an elephant in the room? We've all been openly saying we need on the past two weeks

Well, perhaps because the elephant stepped back into the room once the dust settle from all of Olshey's moves the past couple of days. Dunno, but, nonetheless, it's still a seemingly debatable topic.

Maybe Neil is waiting to see how Simons handles the pressure in Vegas. Thankfully that is only 4 days away.
Regardless of who we and if we find to fill that role he has to come cheap.

All? I don’t think we necessarily need one. Whoever they sign would be fourth string, maybe fifth if they like Hezonja with the ball. I think PF and Center are bigger priorities.

I think one of Dame, CJ or Hezonja will be on the court with Simons a large percentage of the time unless it's a blowout.

Is Hezonja's ball handling good enough? will he turn the ball over too much?

It's good enough for a larger wing. And he can pass it (as most Euro's can). His Asst/TO ratio is a poor 1:1 so that needs work but he did show signs when given the reins in that short stretch at the end of last year. He does have a bad tendency of jumping up in the air when making a pass at times.

CJ will be backup PG, with Simons filling in here and there. We've done it before and it wasn't entirely ideal, but it works. If you have a lot of wings around him who can shoot (which we should), and a shooting guard who can create his own offense (which we should in Simons), CJ is less likely to put on blinders and just gun all the time.

It's going to be Herzonja in the ET role doing most of it. That'll be fine. Presumably, the more Ant plays the more comfortable he'll become in that role. I think by the end of the season we'll be a lot stronger and deeper in ballhandlers than we were in 2018-19.

I like Herzonja but damn I am not sure that is a good idea. I love having forwards that can run the offense, but I don't like it when they are encouraged to run it all the time. Pippen was one of the few exceptions. I didn't like it when Batum did it either. I think it works best when they "help" the guards but not actually take over. The good part about Mario is that he can shoot from the outside so when he doesn't have the ball in his hands he will still be helpful.

Olshey has had an answer for pretty much every question about the Blazers so far this summer. I’m guessing he’s got a vet point guard lined up to sign today for the minimum. Get that out of the way, enjoy your 4th of July barbecue, and then head to Vegas for summer league this weekend. Nice job, Neil!

Some have been concerned about the dearth of players above 6'8". Well, I don't think
we have ANY players below 6'3".

Don't be biased against guys because of their height. His handle is at least as good as ET's. Was ET a guard? Was he a forward? Did it matter? He could dribble the ball for 12 minutes per game to give Dame and CJ a rest. Herzonja can do at least that. If you watch video of his play, I think you'll feel better about it.

Leonard and Green bring the ball up all the time. Green just pushed the ball against us at will and created easy buckets fro himself and others.
