I agree, and yes, it is cool.
If you don't mind working people paying for social programs, then you shouldn't have a problem with so-called 'democratic socialism'. Because that's all it is.

Not true...it comes with more government control over the economy with a ton of regulations. And then there is the cost. Just my take.

That might be a technical definition, but nobody, not even that she-devil AOC, is proposing limited ownership of private property.

What what I’ve heard from her is she rather have the government but housing and apartments rather than allow private industry to thrive and prosper.

I didn't know what her housing policy was, so I looked it up and found this:

Ocasio-Cortez believes housing is a right and "that Congress must tip the balance away from housing as a gambling chip for Wall Street banks and fight for accessible housing that's actually within working families' reach," her website says.
She says she wants to extend tax benefits to working- and middle-class homeowners, expand the Low Income Housing Tax Credit, provide housing for the homeless, and permanently fund the National Affordable Housing Trust Fund.

Which part of that do you think keeps private industry from thriving? And which private industry?

Her Green New Deal from what I understand wants to take out fossil fuel, well, thats would be tough on the economy and hurt the middle class as like in Europe energy cost will go through the roof.
Anytime big government takes over any industry it will be poorly managed and the cost will be much higher. There would be so many new gov regulations on many industries that as in the past many smaller companies would not thrive.
Meanwhile, millions Americans currently employed directly or indirectly in the oil, gas and coal industries are likely to lose their jobs, while manufacturers, transportation companies and steel producers will see factories chased out of the U.S. IMO, Deregulation is the way to go to flash the field for prosperity.
How can our government pay for everything? IMO, through fiscal irresponsibility, the Fed will print mega trillions of dollars, the demo socialist congress would implement extremely high tax rates as she refers to, and all Americans will get hit with high new energy tax.
She talks about social justice? its the opinion of many that if the GND was ever implemented the burden of the economic chaos from exploding energy and transportation cost and the many lost jobs and incomes would be given to middle & lower income Americans. Those billionaires would see little impact in their life style.
Im an advocate of balance and staying in step with American capitalism with a limited government. I believe the private sector could mange any government agency agency a whole lot better with more accountabilty.
I guess we will have to see what develops.

Good example, however unintended, of the total failure of "democratic socialism" and how it is responsible for taking American Freedom and Personal Prosperity from it's historical apex to the cliff's edge of totalitarian communism and inescapable debt it is currently teetering on.

What do you think "Democratic socialism" is and how does it differ from socialism?

It's a bit weird to have a statewide poll on AOC. It matters not one bit what someone in Buffalo or Albany thinks of AOC.

I heard on MSNBC that Gellibrand wants to provide social security to illegal immigrants?
Im not opposed to some help but to simply give them ss checks for entering our country illegally doesn't make much since? Unless you are for open borders and enlisting votes form illegals?

Many illegals pay into SS.

I think you are misrepresenting what she said. She's talking about people who have paid into the social security system receiving benefits - not people who haven't.

Ive got a friend who's wife had stage 4 ovarian cancer and she worked and paid in for over 30 years and was denied ss payments while she was sick. I think it was because they were married and he was employed.
In order to receive ss as math income you need so many years paid in (10 years) I believe.
If they payed in and meet all other requirements than I'm not opposed. However, I still don't condone them coming here illegally when so many immigrants come here the correct way.
Just my opinion....

Regardless of her stance she has little to no chance of being the democratic candidate. Too many people ahead of her.

Yeah, you don't get benefits if you don't pay into it. I know when I applied there was one year that for some reason wasn't shown on my benefit page as paying into social security. They agreed to average out with the 2 years before and 2 years after as what my salary would have been. My wife also worked for several years for a crooked owner that collected taxes and social security from her paycheck, but never paid the appropriate organization thus she was out about 6 years of benefits that should have been included in her social security checks.

Im not really sure who has the best chance at this point. I am looking forward to the debates when there will be various ideas on government. Its going to be interesting to see how the 4 women will go at each other or if they will gang up on Joe and Bernie.
For me cup, I want a candidate that is balanced with sound fiscal & social positions. Im not leaning demo socialist at all as its against my deepest concern about government, keeping it reasonable in size and fiscally conservative. Even though I was very critical of Shultz and the Boom I have liked his balance. I like John Kasich too.

We need a hybrid Democrat that wants to seize all the assets of, and ss payments made by illegals and use that money for the reparations Warren is talking about.

Won't bother me a bit. Never happen obviously.

Her list of things provided by Puerto Rico seem a little strange to me.

Coffee?
Strategic Atlantic Port?
We once had a big base there, Roosevelt Roads. Where ships exorcised and got their shore fire support up to speed. But then, Puerto Rico forced the Navy to stop using the near by Island of Vieques back in the early part of this century. So the base was closed I think. I was there in 1962, getting a task force of Heavy Cruisers up to speed on long range Shore fire capability. The Coffee was terrible, and old Cruiser Captains were a real pain in the ass.
But we don't do that stuff there anymore, so what the hell is AOC talking about?

The base of Roosey was used to stage the help for PR after the latest Hurricane to raise hell with the Island, but I don't see it as a Strategic Atlantic Port these days. That would be history.

Appalachia?
What? Why would you ask the question? It was never a colony of the US?

An important Tax Loop hole for the 1%?
Hell girl! You should end that shit then! It is only there to attract investment into Puerto Rico. Presumable for the benefit of Puerto Ricans.

I would love to see you in a debate with her. Pretty sure who would come out on top. Fear the 29 year old Hispanic woman, lol.

I would not have a chance!
I find much of what she says very interesting and astounding at the same time.
Debating it would be most difficult.

Btw, did you know they closed the Naval base she must be referring to? She was about half her current age then. That would be a long long time ago, probably out of her memory. I kind of think you probably don't know it either.
