Try the following: Save off a copy of the exact PDF file the White House has released as Obama's birth certificate this morning. Find yourself a copy of Adobe Illustrator (not Photoshop), and load up the PDF file in Illustrator. Then click on the center of the image of the birth certificate, then right-click on the center of the image, and click Release Clipping Mask. Have fun...

2) Now scroll up and down the document (with wheel on your mouse). Look at what you were looking at. You are correct Sir! Outstanding work!

You can clearly see it it in the name Barack (how the R sticks out), and then scroll down the document and you can clearly see the white out with the type over.

WHOA !! Nobody is noticing the absolute fake in front of our faces: in 1961 no one would ever have listed the fathers race as AFRICAN ! That's a NATIONALITY, and became part of the PC lingo in the 80s. His mother is CAUCASIAN, and he would have been likely N.E.G.R.O, N.E.G.R.O.I.D, or possibly COLORED, but not AFRICAN.

I can just see Republican ads against Obama exhorting people to use Illustrator to "see the truth" about Obama's birth certificate, with a few simple instructions involving marquee zoom and clipping masks. That would be awesome. I hope the Tea Party pressures the RNC to do those ads so the American people realize they've been duped.

I hate to interrupt your Hardy Boys moment, but a professional graphic artist would hardly need to use whiteout first and then go to work digitally altering it. In fact, I'm not a professional graphic artist and it would be easier for me to alter it without using whiteout first.

Even if it is corrected, which it probably isn't, so what? In 1961 people used correction fluid. That's how you corrected typos back then. You want us to believe his name is really Baback or Badack or something, and he changed it to Barack? Seems like something less than a smoking gun.

The thing is, we did have time for this kind of silliness and Obama tried to take it away. Happily, the nutcases are now dissecting the long-form birth certificate and agitating about how it's a fake, so it seems like a (comedic) gift that keeps on giving. Even Obama can't steal that from us. Just our futures and our children's futures.

The white indicates layering, not white-out. It's a layered image, which is odd for what is supposed to be a genuine copy converted to a PDF file.

Not sure when the layering occurred, or why, but it is curious, considering this document was stamped on Monday. Perhaps it was originally uploaded in GIMP, and not Adobe?

There's only one way to settle this. Let's exhume his parents remains and do some DNA testing. Then we can debate whether the DNA testing was faked, or if someone else was buried in his mother's grave, etc.
