What I take away from this thread is that instead of becoming introspective after this easy Democratic victory, Republicans think that the future base of the GOP is to continue the same old gimmick slogans against the majority of Americans. They keep getting little adrenaline rushes from their little attack-and-run phrasings that cannot be sustained in any practical reality.
For example, sure, you can kill everyone on Social Security or Medicare. But 10 years later, who will you kill then, to continue the military spending and historically low tax rates for the rich? Republicans always have temporary solutions, and can't even offer up any numbers for those gimmicks, out of fear the numbers won't balance, since they know they won't.
GOP admitting they are out of touch with America
In the aftermath of Barack Obama's victory over Mitt Romney in the presidential election, Newt Gingrich said it's time for the Republican party "to stop, take a deep breath and learn."
Gingrich reflected on the outcome of the contest during an appearance on NBC's "Today" on Monday.
The former House Speaker, who made a failed bid for the GOP presidential nomination earlier this year, said, "The president won an extraordinary victory. And the fact is we owe him the respect of trying to understand what they did and how they did it." He added, "But if you had said to me three weeks ago, Mitt Romney would get fewer votes than John McCain and it looks like he’ll be 2 million fewer, I would have been dumbfounded."
In a Politico op-ed published online on Monday, Gingrich wrote, "For the conservative movement and the Republican Party to succeed in the future (and while they are not identical the two are inextricably bound together) we will have to learn the lessons of 2012." He explained, "An intellectually honest and courageous Republican Party has nothing to fear from the current situation."
Asked on "Today" about what he wrote, Gingrich said, "The great thing about elections is they belong to the American people." He added, "I was wrong last week, as was virtually every major Republican analyst. And so, you have to stop and say to yourself, if I was that far off, what do I need to learn to better understand America?"
Democrats in the US are many things, some of them bad... but they are not in any way Extreme Left.
Also, weren't Democrats whining about the lockstep Republicans in 2004? How Democrats are cats who all have special little pet peeves while Republicans all think alike like dogs with a pack mentality? I certainly remember that.
As of November 1, 2012 the United States had a total resident population of ... the Census Bureau's estimation for 2012, 50.4% of American children under the age 34 informality; entrepreneurial; anti-political, paleoliberal or left-wing attitudes;

They have nobody electable. Not a single viable candidate for President in 2016.
They need a new face.
Someone with bold and new ideas. Someone like...
David Stern. (He's available)
What groups did we blame when Clinton got in office?Yeah. Good for them, but the point is that the key demographic for democrats are those making under $50k a year. They are in huge numbers versus any of those other groups you made.
Almost 60% of the US make under $50k a year. Of that group, 60% vote Democrat.

I don't understand the complaint. We live in a democracy. People who make under 50K are allowed to vote just like poeple who make over 50K. You seem to look down on people who make under 50K.
just dial back the whole abortion/gay issue and they have a better shot at independents
I actually think the biggest issue is to tune in to the Hispanic vote. Many Hispanics don't condone abortion or gay issues because of their "Catholic upbringing". If they restructure issues that cater to this demographic; then it's anybodies ballgame.
i think the dems are gonna beat them to the punch on immigration
I think you're right. But that is truly the "swing vote". Gays and liberals will not sway away from dems. The hispanci vote can.
