The future is very bright

Yes...and Terry was the quintessential 6th Man which is what I think CJ needs to eventually be.

Terry finished games. CJ will also finish games. Not sure how one can be good/big enough to finish games and not be good/big enough to start games, but to be honest I don't really care if he starts or comes off the bench. As long as he gets his minutes. I like watching he and Dame play together.

Our season long training camp is going probably just the way it should..the cream will rise to the top and the water will evaporate...addition by subtraction. There's not one guy on our roster that I dislike...can't remember a team like that in ages.

Almost a month into the season amidst the Genisis of this new Blazers era, things are looking good. The Blazers are young and diverse, they exude potential, and play hard on any given night. This team is like a new born baby, it needs to learn to walk, talk, and destroy. Neil Olshey gave birth to it, Stotts is the nanny, nourishing it, letting it make mistakes and learn on its own. It's like when I was a kid and my dad threw me into the water...it was sink or swim...this is a sink or swim moment for the players.

I still think a trade will happen before the deadline.

But, it is also vital that Papa Olshey be very careful going forward. He has put together a beautiful baby, and he has to stay honest to it. Any move he makes has to make sense for the vision he started out with. We've seen what can happen when a team can't commit to a youth movement and imbeds too much veteren presence (coughlakerscough)

If there is a trade it can't just be for someone because they are good or have an established presence in the NBA. It's has to be someone who fits. We can't fall back into making trades out of desperation and end up with injury plagued players, and a demoralized team seething with resentment. No, Olshey and the Blazers must stay the course, and stay true to what we are building. The future is bright lets keep it that way.

Ah, OK. Yeah, that wouldn't shock me.

I think the biggest thing is, though, what kind of asset could either of them net you that offsets their benefit to being on the team. I think both have a lot to offer the younger guys in their experience -- Kaman's practically an assistant coach right now. Henderson is expendable, IMO, but could the Blazers expect to get anything more than a second-round pick for him right now? I'm not sure, and, if that's all you get, I think you hold onto him just for a little extra veteran presence. But that's just my take.

Judging by the direction Olshey appears to be going, we'd be looking for draft picks or a young high-upside guy who needs a change of scenery, like Moe Harkless. I'm not sure if either Henderson or Kaman can get that kind of return.

Great points!

I still think the only untouchable player on the team is Dame, but I really like Plumlee, Vonleh, CJ, etc.

I think Crabbe also has a bright future. I would put Crabbe and Harkless in the same category of young guys with a bright future as solid rotation players.

Aminu is.... fine. I like him. I think he's a solid starter, but I also think he's tradeable. I'm not in love with him. Davis, on the other hand, is exactly the kind of guy you want on a contender. He's a blue collar guy. He does all the little things that you want in a big man. He reminds me a lot of the Davis boys on Indy. He's totally an Antonio Davis kind of player.

How I see ALL Portland Sports..

#1 Blazer fan: You got to admit. It's getting better.... This team is coming around. The foundation is there for the future.

#2 Blazer fan: Well. We are still in tank mode this year, though.

#1 Blazer Fan: OMG The CYNICISM is endless!!! You call yourself a realist! These are not Rose Colored Glasses (takes off glasses) They are a different shade of pink!!! HOW DARE YOU!

As a devout Blazer fan I have been through all the different moods/ mindsets there are. On one hand I understand we are in rebuild mode. I'd have to be certified insane if I didn't. I know its going to take time for our young roster to grow and to become cohesive, that it's going to take more moves to become a contender. But, at the same time I can't help rooting for the team to win everygame, to win now.

When we loose I get angry, go on rants and blame the coach or the Refs ( though some of the blame is due to them) and I call out the team, and say mean things like the Blazers suck. But, I don't mean it, and by the next day I'm over it ready to roll again.

It's hard being a blazer fan, when the team is winning we are on top of the world, when they are losing we are like hormonal women on our periods.

Well shit, I thought Robin Lopez was the most underrated center in the league. Oh ya he's not a Blazers anymore. My bad.

I don't think the future is bright at all unless we get lucky. We have 2 legitimate starters and even they are somewhat redundant. The rest of these guys are bench players or scrubs. It also doesn't look like we'll get a draft pick better than #6 or so. This is not a good time to be a Blazer fan.

Maybe you should stick to posting on the Spurs forum :dunno:

But.. but... I thought it was just one real starter in preseason. By the end of the season people will be saying we have two legit starters, a 6th man and two great role players... but we suck and it sucks to be a fan...

This is a great time to be a Blazers fan!!! Unless your an eternally negative individual....ugh....

I just don't get some people who think that if you don't win you suck, or there is nothing unless you win. Im am a pretty crazy fan, but im not going to put our team down, I'm not going to get myself down, because there is no point. tlong, your gonna give yourself an ulcer with all this negativity. :)

Maybe you should learn the game. Then post.

Explain to me how you think that Plumlee is either a bench player or a scrub?

He's averaging 10 ppg and 8.6 rebounds 1 block and 1 steal with a PER of 18.76.

In terms of centers, he's 12th in the league in rebounding in only 28.6 minutes per game. He's 19th in PER. That's better than Marc Gasol, Rudy Gobert, and Jahlil Okafor,

If you aren't getting 20/20 than your a scrub in the league.

Seriously I'm glad we blew it up and assembled this team. Their not that bad. A lot of potential. Although Lillard is a little too inefficient for my liking, it's better than nothing. Cj to me is more of a super 6th man scorer than starting 2 guard but hey atleast that spot is fairly covered.

No one’s winning a ring against GSW anytime soon, the King gave them everything he had last year and was still beaten relatively handily, unless Curry’s ankle blows up like a New Years celebration they’re a lock. Neil with a top 5 pick this year will ace it, he has great eyes for talent.

See? I knew you could do it!

Don't speak for me. It's a great time to be a fan. There's no blueprint telling us when it's great and not great to be a fan. The team is not good, but the progression is fun to watch.

I will tell you what to think, and you shall listen to me because I am a commissioner!

So your saying you'd rather have Plumlee than Gasol, Gobert, or Okafor? Uh, okay.

Aminu and Davis aren't scrubs either. Tlong is delusional.

If we can draft Ben Simmons as our pf, and a 3 and d guy at sg this offseason I'll be ecstatic.

Lillard
3 and d
Aminu
Simmons
Plumlee

6: Cj
7: ed Davis
8: Leonard or vonleh

Me likey

Did I say they were scrubs? I'm pretty sure I said they were bench players but not necessarily scrubs. And I stand by that.

That weak ass shit is your reply? You say that we only have two starters on the team, I show you that Plumlee is (at the very least) a very solid starter and you create some ridiculous strawman as a response? Get the fuck outta here.

And now we're apparently getting the #1 pick in the draft. :rolleyes

No you didn't show me shit. Plumlee is definitely NOT a solid starter.
