The future of (DeMarcus Cousins) the Kings

1. The Kings won't trade their one decent player.
2. If they did, other teams have much more enticing assets.
3. If we got him, his knees would explode.

History has many examples which show these points to be false assumptions. It's been rumored for quite awhile that the Kings were considering trading him, and he has one year left and could leave for nothing. A player of CJs calibur might actually be the best thing on the table. CJ is locked into 4 more years, while Portland would run the risk of Demarcus bolting after 1.

Portland has to pounce on this. Give up CJ. The defensive tandem of CJ and Lillard is always going to suck.
CJ's extension makes him virtually impossible to trade this season.

The only way the Kings trade Cousins is if they can dump a bunch of other shit at the same time.

The CBA states that when a player signs an extension off his rookie deal, the "poison pill provision" kicks in. In terms of salary matching, CJ would only count as his current salary for us, but would count as the average of his next 5 years' salaries (21m) for any team to which we would trade him. So it's incredibly difficult to structure a deal including CJ in which salaries match for both teams. In fact, it would need to involve a team that can take back significantly more salary than it sends out; ie, a team like Philly that is way under the cap.

So, you're saying we're trading Dame then?

:pokecrap:

Agree, the basis could be something like Okafor or Noel plus one of Phillys good 1st rdrs and perhaps one or ours to Sac, Cousins to POR, CJ to Philly - additonal pieces thrown in for salary/value if needed (like Mason to Sac)

Where do I sign up

Isn't that what we just did this summer with all those YOLO contracts?
Hardly. Throwing around stupid money on average (and in some cases below average) players isn't "going out with a bang," that is the textbook definition of playing it safe -- raising your floor, but failing to raise the ceiling.

I rather have Brook Lopez for rotation guys than CJ for Boogie and everyone here knows how much i want to boogie.

Right, The Blazers would have to take Rudy Gay and I'd be OK with that. Lillard, Cousins and Gay as a big three?

Not disagreeing with you....but tonight Cousins and Gay led the Kings with the worst +/- (-15 and -14) at home against the Rockets.

Didn't watch the kings game, but I would take the +/- with a grain of salt. If it becomes frequent, then maybe Cousins is trying to force his way out of town

I was being a little facetious. People tend to be selective when it comes to +/-.
The ET +/- discussion is ridiculous

What is ridiculous is that ET's is the WORST in the entire league. Not saying he is the worst player in the league(far from it) but being the absolute worst can't exactly be ignored either. He is almost always playing against bench players from the the other team so they should have a decline from the starters as well. Somehow when Turner is on the floor, we are almost always digging out of a hole.

I don't think Gay is shit; in fact just recently saw a rumor some team was offering some pretty good stuff for him.
