The greatness of Dame

I think teams doubling and trapping Dame is what molded him into the shooter that he is. He decided that if he was going to be able to get his shot off, he would have to evolve and take shots where defenses would be less likely to try to stop him. And defenses are having to evolve. Can you imagine how good this team would be if we had a distributor at the wing? Like.... young Batum and Aldridge. If we had that team we would be a legit championship contender. If teams still had to defend Lillard from half court, it would open up so many opportunities on offense.

Yeah, Dame’s addition of the long bomb was a direct response to the embarrassment of losing to the Pelicans in the first round. He put in massive work to get to where he is now. Thank you, Pelicans.

It reminds me of when Jordan put an entire summer in the weight room after the Bad Boy Pistons beat the shit out of him the playoffs. He hired a personal trainer and got strong because he was tired of getting beat up.

I wonder if Dame's boxing background contributes to the ease with which he flings those 30+ footers. Seems to me there might be some muscular correlation between the two skillsets.

i read somewhere that his father gave him a 12 lb ball to shoot as a kid. If true, that would do the trick. Like a dognut for a baseball bat.

I think something that has gone unnoticed is that we've been beating the traps teams throw at him by having 40% 3 point shooters at the forward spots. Teams will never leave CJ so we get so many wide-open clutch threes in crunch time by Trent Jr. and Melo in the bubble and they've been making them. If those shots were taken by Aminu and Harkless I guarantee you we'd be losing these games.

We will never see another player like Dame in a blazer uniform.

The combination of his exceptional talent, his unparalleled leadership, and his loyalty to his teammates, the organization, and the city...... we will never see it again. Soak it up while you can.

I wish the franchise saw it this way. They're not taking advantage of this time.

Yep. Totally agree. Won’t be another guy like this in my lifetime. Makes me sad thinking about this. Must be what Spurs fans feel about Duncan.

But at least the Spurs put teams and bosses (that's what coaches and GMs are supposed to be) around Duncan that got him rings. Spurs fans get to be happy about that. Also, Dame is twice the leader that The Big Fundamental was and immeasurably more exciting to watch.

Can we name a bridge or a street after him BEFORE he retires?

I say we do a combo of SW Broadway and the Broadway bridge.

he lives in Wilsonville /West Linn doesn't he? Let's name The Court after Dame once he retires. And maybe I205 between between WestLinn & Wilsonville, Damian Lillard Expressway.

He played for Portland, something needs to be named after him in Portland.

Blazers didn't name a street after Drexler in Houston.
