The Greg Oden Watch "OFFICIAL" Thread...

WTF are you talking about right now? I don't like Oden... You just quoted something I said about Roy which was in response to jlprk saying that all former blazers are hated. This seems like it was meant for someone else... get your posts right.

There's two parts:

1) What, are you 12? Meaning you must be young if Roy is your favorite Blazer ever.

Then...

2) My continued thoughts on Oden in this thread

Get it now? I could've been more clear and said.. "Back to Oden..."

You've made a couple of mistakes today...

3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

I was reading about a different David Robinson. My bad. Point stands that the basketball player David Robinson was awesome.

Do you remember what you post? That wasn't your point at all. Your point was to say "why the hell does Greg say Airforce vets
drink tons when David Robinson (navy) was not a heavy drinker (at least on Greg's level).

I'm not. He was just attacking me a second ago for absolutely no reason. And keep your bible quotes please.
Also please give me a link to where I've been a hypocrite and then you can finish jabbing me too.

I was born in 76' and YES Roy is my Favorite Blazer. Roy did not have the longevity as Drexler but IMHO he was a better player.

Yes I said it...

I brought up Robinson BEFORE the drinking comment. The additional people in Air Force drink comment was after that. I take that back but Robinson was still awesome. I brought him up to illustrate how great a true once in a generation center can be and Oden was nowhere close to that. Plus, I said, Robinson went two years without playing basketball before his sensational rookie year. THEN, I made the drinking comment which came with a mistake.

Excellent. Now, we're talking. I was never attacking you. I literally assumed you must be young because Drexler was by far the better player and did more for the Blazers than Roy ever did. But if you're in your late 30s, I would expect you to know that. Did you watch a lot of basketball in the early 90s?

Fair enough.

The context just seemed like an attack. Roy can be anyone's favorite Blazer and I'm not sure why you had to get
so snarky over a comment that IMO didn't warrant that type of response.. Asking me if I'm 12.. I'll be 37 on the 26th. ;)

I would agree that he is the more fundamentally sound ball player. Had he had health on his side, who knows where he might have ended up. But Clyde is one of the 50 greatest of all time. And he played the game at a level like no other. He by far to me was the more entertaining baller.

Sorry man. Now, on Drexler, did you watch him play in the early 90s, in his heyday on a regular basis?

Drexler was not "by far" the better player and I can go down the list of basketball skills that Roy possessed that Drexler did not.
But that is for another thread. I know Drexler did more for the team than Roy but I don't believe he did more for the team than Porter.
Those teams would have been nothing without him (porter is my 2nd fav Blazer prob tied with Roy).

WHOA. AUGUST 26th? my birthday is August 25th! 1974! We're almost exactly 2 years apart!

C'mon now.. I'm a dyed in the wool, born and bred Blazer fan. My mother broke her foot celebrating the 77' Championship.

I REMEMBER when uncle cliffy dropped that pass.... FUCK it still hurts...

But look at Drexler's stats, what he offered the team. What he was capable of on both sides of the court. He was a genuine MVP candidate. Roy never was. And I LOVE Roy. I was at Game 4 vs Dallas. Best game I've ever been at. I cried. But Roy was never on his level. He might've gotten there eventually but he wasn't there yet.

Yep.

Drexler was NOT a good OTB defender.

OK time for a new thread!

Drexler had a season where he went for 27.2 ppg 7.9 rpg 5.8 apg 2.7 spg 50% shooting. Roy was never close to that level.

If Drexler was in the league today, LeBron would be the only player better than him and it would be close.

Missed pass notwithstanding, that Blazers team, during the regular season, was the best team I've seen in my lifetime. They were so fucking good.

Wanna know the greatest tragedy? Somewhere in a landfill are 200 cassette tapes of Bill Schonley play-by-play of all those early 1990's wins. I can't believe I threw them out when I went to college.

Hahahahahaha!

Yes, the other David Robinson.

Learn the game, then post.
