Last year while going through medical issues that are now behind me, I found Qi gong. It is a form of moving meditation. I find it perfectly made for someone with autism, as it relaxes the sympathetic nervous system to help calm you. It is also as easy to do as walking, maybe easier.

After 8 1/2 months I am losing weight, nearly skinny again. I breathe better than I have in ages and I don't need my anxiety medication anymore. (Shhh, don't tell my doctor. They wouldn't like me not taking meds.)

I just thought I would post this as I know we are all going through a lot right now, and maybe this might help others here as well.

Take it easy, Road Ratt

Here is a video, in case you want to check it out for yourself.

Thanks for posting. I've seen a lot of people at different parks, beaches, etc. doing this or something very similar to this, and always had no clue what the heck they were doing. I'm gonna do some looking into it. Thanks!

very nice....you have more than enough tree's in the back 40. I'll be honest i've had houses with many trees and they are a pain in the rear to maintain properly. The place I have now the trees are in the wetland behind and side of house. We have a couple smaller type dog woods and a numerous types of japanese lace leafs, some in pots some not. My brother owns an exotic tree nursery and ships all over the world, he supplies all the trees at Disney and many movie sets.
He's had several movie stars fly out (B Pitt & C Diaz) to select for their homes. There is huge money in exporting and importing exotic trees.

Got a link to your brothers business? Funny my brother grows unique Japanese Maples.

Of course, how's it doing? Would love to see it!

Love your fire pit, screen porch and hanging plants. If I had hanging plants and I don't, I would have ferns in the winter and fuchsia in the summer.
I see you have shrubs but it seems like it would look better to me to have more and more judiciously located. I'd green up that lawn, too.
Also, I don't see any flowers especially my favorite, roses, Mr. Lincoln roses being my favorite. Some daffodils, daisies, lillies, tulips and so on would add color and be really nice.
And I never saw a vegetable garden. Maybe it's from my depression era mother that I got interested in yard work and vegetable gardening but I love it.
Your yard is near perfect for these improvements. Really nice.
Nice home but no deck or patio. Also, no overhang on the back to prevent water damage.
With a yard and a home your size I'd have some solar collectors.
I need to get a USB port connector and I'll show some pictures of my house which is nearly completely different from yours yet still nice. I've been meaning to get that connector for over a year now so I've got to get off my ass and go do it.

You're such a perfectionist!! LOL

Actually, we have some of the greenest grass in the neighborhood. They mow tomorrow.

The mow? Didnt you know getting your own grass is great exercise?

I've mowed more grass that I can think of over my 63 years. Never have owned a sit-down mower. Never wanted one. That said, I regularly do the 5-mile trek up the greenway and country hillsides with my dog. That's great exercise. I have to say, though, I sometimes miss my arduous bike rides up the highway towards Bachelor when I lived in Bend. We don't have those types of hills here! LOL

Im a lawn freak...its my therapy. We now have a smaller place where I can use my self propelled mower.

Impressive stock! There's some amazing nurseries in the boring area. This is my family's garden center:

Looking for some arborvitae for the backyard along the fence. Neighbors 60 foot trees all came down with something and died. Since they cut them all down we lost all privacy back there. Not going to mess with bamboo.

We all would like more privacy with your wife in the backyard.

Smart, bamboo sucks. They should have some big ones down there, plus you can get a landscaper discount!

Yuck, arborvitae drive me nuts... I ripped all mine out and replaced them with bamboo. Bamboo is super easy to deal with, as long as you select a "clumping" strain and not a "land racing" strain.

People who say things like "bamboo sucks," obviously haven't done their homework.

Everybody keeps telling me that, but it seems like it will be such a hassle even if I get the clumping kind. We are yard people. Don't do much, so I'm no expert when it comes to landscaping.

I just planted a hedge myself with Irish Yews. They're pretty dope but will take longer to fill in than your average suburban arborvitae. Certainly more unique than all your Portland bamboo neighbors:

I'll take any advice you guys are willing to give.

I've cloned my arborvitae trees ...take cuttings and use rooting powder...now on my 3rd generation of trees....eventually I want them as fencing along most of my borders...they are great but don't let them get too tall or they're really hard to prune or top...keep them at comfortable ladder level

I use to work in my yard from 7 am until 9 pm skipping breakfast and dinner. After I was through I'd fire up the Weber and grill a hunk of beast late at night. Those were good times. Sadly, I have trouble going to bed and getting up in the morning so my wife helps me. Life sucks.
