I purchased a book on Amazon. It was a little late on delivery, so I checked the tracking number. On that day (the 7th) it was in Portland. Since I live in Salem, I figured it would arrive no later than the 10th. Silly Wabbit!

As of the 10th, the package was in Las Vegas. Just a mistake...right? It will be sent right back to Portland...right?

As of today (the 13th) it is sitting in Reno. Words fail me.

You are referring to the 'not quite yet defunct, but close to it' United States Postal Service, right?

Sorry. I had to laugh. I've had my own issues with them in the past. They go through more mail carriers than some young children go through underwear.

I had an important parcel get lumped into a group delivery that was sent to a passport processing center in Irving, TX instead of Baltimore, MD where I addressed it to. Fortunately, I live in small town Iowa and the post master here was able to get it tracked down and redelivered to the correct place, all within a few days. I was quite surprised, I figured it was going to end up in the trash at the passport center that it accidentally got delivered to.

Awhile back I sold an item on ebay and the buyer lived in Gresham. I checked postage and it was only about $2.50 so I said the heck with it as it would likely cost me more in gas so I went ahead and mailed it. The item sold on ebay for $25.00. The end of the story. it never made it to Gresham so I not only lost the postage, had to refund the buyers money and lost the item and because it was so cheap for shipping I didn't put insurance on it. Post office wouldn't even refund my shipping cost.

One book I bought online started in Portland, went to iirc Reno and then back to Portland. So I'm assuming all their books get bulk shipped to a hub, and then distributed from there. I ordered the book from a company on abebooks.com listed as being in Portland, thinking I'd get it in a few days. lol Fucking capitalism!

We've had the same mail carrier for the four years I've lived in this house. Couldn't ask for a nicer guy.

We've gone through 12 carriers in the last 10 months at my workplace. They are chewing them up and spitting them out. Seriously, though, we are on one of the most difficult routes in the Portland Metro area.

We have trouble with UPS. They deliver all my VA meds and I take plenty. No matter how many times we complain, they will not ring our doorbell when they leave a package at our front door. Also, some of my meds are temperature sensitive and time sensitive and I need to know when they are delivered so I can bring them in the house right away, thereby avoiding a package thief, which, thank God, we do not have in this city to any great degree, and so we can put the temperature sensitive mads in the refrigerator.

But the mailman? No complaints, great guy. I guess this is another advantage to living in Lake Oswego.
