The Affordable Care Act was a good first step - Especially that Insurance Companies can no longer exclude pre existing conditions. Still have a long way to go but I think lowering the Medicare age is a good next step. The Republican platform calls for reducing funding for Social Security as well as Medicare/Medicaid.

Yeah Trump ran a campaign in 2016 saying he was going to repeal Obamacare. Republicans always talk about how awful it is.

Yet, they’ve never brought forth any better ideas. Must not be THAT bad then right

Had 4 years and didn’t do squat.

Why would they? Trump and Vance are going to be much too busy trying to defend all their failures from the last eight years to make Kamala Harris answer something so insignificant -- botching the pandemic, trying to overthrow the government, crooked financials, rampant misogyny, mishandling the border, cozying up to dictators and poor foreign policy, failed economic policies, Trump's age and cognitive decline, Vance's multiple identities, the promotion of hate speech that led to Trump being shot by a member of his own party ... the Republicans have a lot more for which to answer than the age of a guy who has stepped aside.

I wasn't deceived. He was an old fart when I voted for him. I figured it was 50-50 he'd even make it through his term.

At least they weren't doctoring official documents with a sharpie and deliberately lying to us about actual facts that could get people killed.

Less exciting probably plays better in battleground states where they don’t want to be too bold about helping society or they’ll scare off the centrists. Kind of like a liberal Mike Pence; he’ll make sure she “governs reasonably” or whatever.

A long time ago, I registered independent, thinking I’d get third party stuff or whatever. No all I got was republican stuff. Independent and Undecided are just conservative terms words for “make me feel special first”. Interpreting it optimistically, they’re republicans with self-respect.

I'll be disappointed if it is Roy Cooper. Adding an old white guy seems like backsliding. Same for Walz.
Don't like Mark Kelley much either - I find him difficult to listen to, although I can see he brings a useful bio to the ticket.
If I can't have Pete (and I probably can't) I'd rather have Shapiro.

No current right leaning American has any no credibility attacking "democratic processes", or even trying to define what they are. Especially when the current Republican Party is hell bent (and openly so) bent on flushing democracy down the toilet with Project 2025. I like Walz. He gave such a great answer when accused of being too "left"; free breakfast and lunch in school, tuition free college, legal marijuana, LGBTQ rights. "Oh the horror, children with full bellies getting an education!" He has rural background, military experience, state ranked five in business opportunities and amazing third in happiness despite having possibly worst weather in the country. Ever been there in winter?

Trump has to answer all of these things. They all are more important than Kamala Harris' part in the cognitive state of Joe Biden, who, BTW, had one of the most accomplished single terms as U.S. president while Trump measurably had one of the worst.
