The Klynyk

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

He's a key piece on a team thats going to the Western Conference finals. He scored 26 in an elimination game on 9-13 shooting. He's a guy you put in a starting role, more geared towards his game and he could be an All Star.

You must be one of the people who if we look back would be eating all kinds of crow :biglaugh:

Eastern Conference. He's a solid role player. I'd like him on my team. He's a player you hate when he's not on your team because he's a dirtbag.

But he's no all-star.

10/14 shooting

Is that white Gonzaga guy in the draft supposed to be better than him?

Huh, that's weird. I don't remember you bumping any threads after he scored 4 points in Game 6 or 1 point in Game 3, or last year when he posted a PER = -8.3 (yes, that's a negative sign in front of those digits).

One great game, and admittedly, it was a GREAT game, given the significance, the best of his career, does not an all star make. He's a good role player, but on a team lacking quality big men, he's not even a starter. He will never be an all star, no matter who he plays for.

Enjoy basking in his momentary success, but don't drown in it.

He comes up big in big games.

He has so much talent. He has games where he disappears for sure, but that has more to do with the style of play that Boston plays. He's had a lot of team success on Boston, but I think a change of scenery he could very well be a star type player. Without a doubt.

Fucking love that song. Its probably considered lame now but growing up, my friend's brother used to drive an old Camaro amd get so much ass with Foreigner blaring out the window.

But seriously, Kelly, anybody who's finishing move is an arm bar should have a crop top like Bill Laimbeer. Embrace the hate Mr. Olynyk! Right now he looks Evil Hippy henchman from late 60's television.

The is no such thing as a "big game" in early December.

Any time you're playing a team aiming for the best record ever and that team is the defending champion, its a big game.

The Celtics owned the Warriors last year when no one else in the league could figure them out.

They lost that game and went 1-1 vs. GSW in 2015-16. They played them well, but a split of a season series is hardly owning anyone. If that's the case DET and MIL also "owned" them.

No the Blazers owned the Warriors. Blazers won by 32 and then beat them in playoffs. One of only three teams (Cleveland and OKC the others) who beat GS more than once.

I've been on the bandwagon for a while now. And mostly because of his defense

I almost liked my first post

Yes but BNM's posts are misleading and frankley I think they're undermining real basketball discussion in this forum.
He finds this statistic that no one knows what it's based on and what it reflects and uses it to 'prove' his point to a bunch of people (me included) that don't really know what he's talking about.
I don't know what this negative stat is but it definitely doesn't reflect Olynyk being one of the best team-defender bigs in the league. His impact on team defense to say it simply is without-a-doubt positive.
Statistics showed LeMarcus Softridge as having more rebounds per game than Robin Lopez, a much simpler statistic, can't argue with that, right? But it didn't show Rolo blocking-out 3 players for the ball to simply fall into Lemarcus' hands.
You need to watch the games to understand a player's impact

...says the guy who opines vociferously about Blazer games he admits he didn't watch...

Ok, you're right.
I'm sorry if I lashed out on BNM. I respect his opinions, it's just that these statistics aren't the whole truth even if they aren't meaningless.
And since I stopped watching games I voice my opinions maybe more voiceferously but not as frequently.
I wish I could watch as many games as I used to

Perhaps the most humble mea culpa I've ever read on this board. Much respect.

He didn't "find" PER. It's a widely used and accepted stat.

Wait... didn't we go 1-1 against them that year too? (During the season)

Yes but he's a great defender, a great team defender, like Ezeli actually.
This doesn't reflect in PER or PPG

What are these "points" you are referring to? Where did you find these "points" because you're clearly just trying use this made up stat to show that you're right.
Que es un idioma esta usar?

I have no idea how close that is to what I was trying to say
