The Known Universe

[video=youtube;17jymDn0W6U]

Amazing how big things are out there once we leave our planet. lol

There HAS to be life in different areas of the universe, no way that in all this giant universe we're the only ones living in it.

Just because there are now 300+ known planets outside our solar system... :devilwink:

A thing of beauty.

You would think in all that vastness there would be a job for me somewhere.

pretty sweet...anyone who thinks there isnt intelligent life outside of earth is an egotistical fool

There is, but are you willing to take the 40LY commute? And you thought L*ker fans had it bad.

Same feeling here man. Also proves that religion is a joke IMO, and all those wars were for nothing.

But I really hope we get some clue of intelligent life in our lifetime.

I am not so sure buddy. I have yet to see proof that there is intelligent life in the LA area...

Small steps, amigo, small steps :devilwink:

Well I can only assume, but I believe his logic goes something like this. There are more and more planets being discovered each year after 2000. Before that time, we only theorized in planets. That in and of itself is a break through about possibility of life. To assume we would ever encounter intelligent life in 100 years, and not say some bacteria, is a little presumptuous though.
It is egotistical, because it is literally a self centered (we are the only things in the entire universe) by definition.

anyone who says that with confidence is being egotistical, but it's not that hard to make an argument that intelligent life might be improbable elsewhere. after all life existed on earth for 4 billion years before intelligence emerged, and the elements that go into life as we know it haven't even been around in quantity significantly longer than that. it may be that self-replicating organisms are common in the universe, but intelligence is a fluke.

It is an interesting debate to argue what is intelligent life. I think Sentient life though, is more specific (although I'm probably being pedantic).

i hope that there's no such thing as intelligent life on other planets, because when they die they are going to hell

Uh that's ridiculous, they've been saved by XJ-325 Jesus. (There's a Jesus for each planet of course)

That would be the Jaguar Jesus, I guess. Jesus has got V-8 power!

barfo

You need to turn that 8 sideways my man! Because Jesus can divide by zero!

To follow along with this video, I give you this equally mind-blowing quote (one of my favorites): "There are more stars in the universe than grains of sand on all the beaches..." -Astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson

That's....a lot of fucking stars.
