The ballast semi half plug to form the mold.

More on the subject here, bottom of the page.

The weed thread reminded me of and old sailor saying.

"Flake the Rope and Smoke the Flake" then I can't remember the rest but the the idea was, do it the other way around (and some did) would result in bad shit happening.

Smoking the Rope would not help get this sucker done.

Maybe a dumb question but do you put lead weights in that or pour hot lead into it to conform to the shape?

I box the plug in and tamp cold sand, bentonite mix around the plug to create a mold . Then I remove the plug and pour hot lead into the mold.
I sort of skipped over the rebar and welding stuff together.

BTW, I now see it is possible to make a run at the mono hull record, perhaps this coming winter.
The sail rig is worked out, the sails are on board. The math works, the shake down will tell the tale.
This kid is the record holder and the youngest to do it. Record or not I would be the oldest to do it just finishing.

Well not quite real time. The WinLink Winmor service which provides email service via the computer through a HF radio post the location of last contact on their site. Right now they seem to be down. Anyway I will have a link to that site on my website.
I will be pulling down an email via Ham radio ever couple days to get a weather Grib file, that should get my loacation updated on the site.

Damn that is pretty impressive. nice work, very nice.

Good job Mar! I look forward to seeing the finished product!
