Another non-Amare trade topic: Sources say that Milwaukee and Portland have actually discussed multiple Richard Jefferson scenarios. It's just not clear how hot they are.

The Blazers are involved in numerous discussions with several teams, so it's difficult to pinpoint the deal they're chasing hardest, but the latest in circulation could furnish Portland with a new small forward and a new point guard: Jefferson and University of Oregon-ex Luke Ridnour in exchange for Travis Outlaw, Sergio Rodriguez and Raef LaFrentz's expiring contract.

Given the future cap space that the Blazers lost in the Darius Miles unretirement saga, sending LaFrentz's contract somewhere between now and Thursday's deadline is considered a virtual lock, since Portland no longer has the forthcoming flexibility to make the free-agent splashes it anticipated.

There are a couple GMs out there who believe that the Trail Blazers will enter (or have entered) the Vince bidding.

I love it... so many rumors about us that no one knows what the hell KP is planning on doing. I have a feeling KP has mastered the art of playing the media to his advantage, and will try to get the best deal possible or just sit on the cap savings for the summer.

I think I'll cry if we don't make move...we need to consolidate some of our sf and pf

I want Vinsanity.

BRING HIM HERE!

I'll take that RJ trade yesterday!!!!!!

I wonder how Ridnour would fit into the group. Would he play ahead of Bayless as backup PG, or just sit and be that third-string PG?

I'd say third, but Nate had him in SEA.

Isn't that the one Canzano made up?

Someone mentioned earlier JC made it up.

Did he come out and say he made it up? i don't know.

either way he's still a dick.

I'm loving KP's unwillingness to give up LMA,Roy,Oden,Bayless and likely Rudy. Those must be great calls.

KP: So, here's our offer...RLEC + (blank) for your superstar

GM: Uh. No.

KP: Yeah, the economy sucks + I have the Bucks...er...the BUlls on the other line.

GM: But you sent that threatening email...

KP: can ya hold on a sec, the Nets are calling me every 2 minutes. I'll have to put ya on hold.

RJ and Carter aren't worth much more than Raef by himself. I can't believe Portland would add in Outlaw and Sergio. I hope neither of them land here. I'd rather keep Raef than get either of those two.

After all these rumors, I am definitely going to be disappointed if by Thursday afternoon we have not traded for at least three of these players: Butler, Wallace, Amare, Devin, Deron, CP3, and LeBron.

Gerald Wallace that is...

uh, no on the jeff/rid package. i'd rather roll with what we have at SF than get a oft injured SF and a journeyman PG. Make a deal for a stud or don't make one at all, i hope thats the thinking at One Center.

Ridnour is not an upgrade in any way shape or form. It sounds like ESPN and Stein fell to Canzano's joke.

I'm more interested in getting either......A SF that can score in the paint, or get a SF that's a great perimeter scorer, which should lead to some more open looks and passes for others in the paint.

I don't think I'd like an in-between scorer at this point.

RJeff isn't the ideal candidate to play at SF for us. He is a good candidate, though. If an ideal candidate like Butler, Prince or Jeff Green isn't available for a reasonable price, go get RJeff. We've got better than solid back-ups for RJeff in Webster and Batum when RJeff's injuries happen.

Now Ridnour... I'm not too sure about Rid even as a back-up. I just can't see Nate letting him stay on the floor very long. He's not a good enough defender. Larry Brown is so desperate to sign a veteran PG he has Charlotte talking to Indiana about Jamaal Tinsley. Yuk. How about we get Charlotte involved. Send Ridnour to Charlotte. We can get Felton if we are willing to eat Nazr Mohammad contract. We could use 6 more fouls at the C position in the playoffs anyway.

Got it all worked out here...

Ridnour's contract only runs through next season, so he could be unloaded in the not-too-distant future if he's relegated to the 3rd string. I have a feeling he's got a legit shot of beating out Blake as the starter since he's a more pure point. Maybe he can get the rock to the Oden?

Jefferson had been an offensive beast this month as he's stepped up after Redd went down. He's shown that he can get to the FT line and his 3-point % is also on the rise.

This deal is solid.

Not a Jefferson fan at all. VC I don't hate, but there are better options. But I trust KP, If he really like RJeff, then i'm game.

I'd rather go w/ Rudy Gay, Caron Butler, Prince, Jeff Green, Granger (lol), etc... oh and of course Battier.

some things will never change. Why should ESPN gossip mongers get the facts right when their job is to stir the pot?

If RLEC comes off Portland's cap, they'll still have plenty of flexibility to make major moves next summer. Outside of Josh Childress, that was never likely to be for a FA as most of the desirable options have already resigned. A lopsided trade giving up capspace is the most likely scenario... for a variety of reasons I think it's much more likely then trading RLEC within the next week.

The only way I see them moving Raef is for a Gasol type/no-brainer trade. I'll be shocked if a Butler, Wallace or Prince is moved to some other team for capspace and prospects/picks. In the likely case that the Blazers don't trade RLEC, watch for Stein to write about how no one wants to help out KP because of how the Blazers operate or some nonsense... he'll just be doing his job :stirthepot:

STOMP

LOL...

That is the MIL trade that Canzano admitted he made up....

Why did he make it up? To show how rapidly a made up trade could travel across the internet\blosphere and become a legimate (oxymoron?) rumour....
