he's playin so damn well that he may get a significant offer as an RFA, possibly pricing him out of our price range

We must pay. This could be a first time our team has had a solid pg rotation.

If the Blazers were really serious about having a solid pg rotation they'd bring back Nate and Steve Blake.

Let's not get carried away yet.

is right about a 3.28 MIL player which is his QO. It certainly isn't over a MLE-player at this point. This isn't to say I don't think he is valuable. In fact I say he is more valuable to us then anyone else.

This is pretty much what I posted in another thread. He's driving the price up, and I think the guy could probably start for at least a third of the teams in the league.

He's an RFA (if we choose to tender him an offer), so he's ours to lose. If we decide to keep him at almost any price, we might be stuck with Hickson because he's the only one we'll be able to go over the cap to sign.

Which just tells us that no GM (...Kahn got fired, right?) would overpay for a Blazer backup PG.

think about a team like Utah, likely desperate for a PG next yr, Maynor is only 25 and actually they drafted him

I think he would get around 4 million. It's a good contract. I think maynor should get it if he keeps this up.

He may get more than that if he keeps improving. PG is one of the hardest positions to fill in the NBA.

or? we've seen enough, we limit his minutes cause we want him, go for the 12th pick as well and don't drive up his value anymore. I know that won't happen but I can wish.

I was thinking the same thing. Except for the stuck with Hickson part. I think if Maynor's expected price goes up to a certain point, we may have to make the offer to Hickson, killing the rest of our cap space, to be able to sign and trade him. Even if we didn't trade him this summer, we could still trade him next year. No worries. Olshey's got this. :)

If I was Olshey and I felt like I really had something special in a three-guard rotation with Lillard, Maynor and Matthews, *and* I really liked Hickson's offensive spunk, I'd think about trading LMA, Leonard, Freeland, Babbitt, whoever for a Marc Gasol. Memphis is in a unique position where Z-Bo ain't getting any younger, and they don't really use Marc to his fullest.

How are Z-Bo and LMA going to play better together then Hickson and LMA? Really you could say that Hickson has been 90% of Z-Bo this year.

I'm not opposed to trading Aldridge because I think Hickson duplicates a lot of the same skills, with a higher rebounding average and a much higher FG%. I also think Aldridge would bring more in trade.

Not my problem, because I'll have Marc Gasol. :ghoti:

But yeah, it's a tough proposition to try and pry someone that good off of Memphis. However, the way NOVoodoo tells it, they barely use him to his full Sabas-like potential. Maybe they'd rather have LMA and the flexibility to deal Z-Bo for someone else? I can dream.

That's really the crux... if you felt really good about Hickson (and his defensive liabilities) at PF, and knew you'd get a Top-5 center in return for LMA, you trade LMA. Olshey traded Eric Gordon. He's not afraid to shake shit up if the reward is right.

The thing is, Aldridge isn't even a good defender. He's better than Hickson, but that's not saying much. Maybe try to deal Aldridge to a team with a little cap space this summer and free up some more room to make a run at Mayo or Redick.

I love our core, but the only truly untouchable on this team is Lillard. Anything is possible.

I do think trading LMA has to at least be explored if we can get a C we want and perhaps added value. For example would you consider Asik from HOU? and then add players like T Rob and/or someone else (Parsons?), and/or a pick? just throwin ideas out
