Re: If Republican's ever want a chance at the Presidency....

....they need to modernize their views.

Thats all.

There's modernizing, and then there's being realistic. The Republicans might be stuck in an archaic form of thinking, but the Dems are spending money like we're not going further and further into debt. It's like you guys don't understand that we cannot afford to support every living soul living in this country (legally and illegally).

Learn to live within your means for fucks sake. If you can't balance your budget, IT MEANS YOU'RE SPENDING TOO MUCH!

I get it, you guys want to live in a perfect world where everyone has jobs, and nobody goes hungry, and healthcare is free, and we no longer hurt the environment. That world doesn't exist. It just doesn't. Not right now. We can work towards it slowly, but most of the changes that you guys make are all window dressing. They don't actually do anything.

Driving a Prius? Doesn't do shit other than save you gas money, but you'd think some of these people were single handedly saving the world. I hear about sustainability all day, every day. We do not live in a sustainable city. We have spent billions on MAX and street cars and bike lanes and all this shit to make our city supposedly greener.... and yet we still have around 84% of the people in this city driving cars.

It drives me nuts because I think the Dems have their hearts in the right place, and that's important, but their execution is flawed. It's not realistic.

Re: If Republican's ever want a chance at the Presidency....

which is their OPINION.

and statements like that kind of rub people the wrong way, as if it's only 1 way to define things. That mentality is what lost them the last 2 elections.

Bingo. Bango. Bongo.

Re: If Republican's ever want a chance at the Presidency....

said the man who just said "free shit for everyone".

President Obama proved that "free shit for everyone" is the way to win an election. Eventually, some one will have to pay, but the American people are too stupid to notice or worse, too lazy to care.

Ever heard of Fannie & Freddie?

On the other stuff, I think you think every liberal takes things to extremes and wants handouts. Its not flawed, I just saw two states pass the legal use of recreational marijuana.

romneys speech was terrible compared to mccains...mccain is a good guy

I'll be fine. When UPS has layoffs due to a shiity economy, good luck finding another job with your level of education and skills.

6 years in. There's no way I'm going to ever be layed off. Wishful thinking.

Hate to say it, but my work is about to explode in the next two years once smaller companies start selling to us.

An unintended consequence of my own vote, but one that will help me prosper, and be able to weed out free-loaders as we take on more companies.

If Grainger or other wholesalers take a dip, which is already happening, Zags will be selling 'roids in the locker room at the 78th st LA Fitness in the 'Couve.

I didn't say anything about handouts. I said that the Dems are spending money that doesn't exist, and they're living in a dreamworld. There has to be a happy medium where we are becoming more sustainable, yet not wasting money on projects that don't actually make us more sustainable.

Wow. Unions are nice, I guess.

Until they are broken, of course.

Somebody needs to link some folks on here up with an anti-Union message board link.

Those freeloading Union bastards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ARGRRRGRGRGRGRGR!

So you're about to prosper under Obama and you hate to say it?

Okay, its obvious, you are a racist.

I hope you never lose your job. If you do, however, hopefully you realize how fucked you are.

I actually really respect this opinion and in some ways agree with it. I would like a more fiscally responsible Democratic Party. However, I also see the need for spending money in down economic times. Somewhere between where the left of the party stands and where you stand.

However, I do want to say that if gay rights, environmentalism, and other causes are noble and are aspired to eventually, then we should fight for them today. There will be no time to make Change if we are only looking to affect that change in the future.

A Prius makes no difference, but higher cafe standards, cash for clunkers, and investing in newer technologies like clean coal or wind will make a difference. And although buying a Prius on its own does not make a difference, it does show companies that we are interested in energy savings. Perhaps the Prius of 2020 will make a true difference.

This is your thread that you made about you. It's your own golden shower of bliss, and we're just watching it.

I don't feel good about admitting this, but that cracked me up. Ha, love it!

One day you'll understand that there are people who don't see identity groups, who don't give two shits who you choose to love, who just want to live their lives as unfettered as possible.

One day? Maxie, I see that now! But unfortunately one party insists on running candidates who DO care who I choose to love. Who want to fetter me to a vaginal probe. Who want to stop me from joining the military. Who want my employer to be able to veto birth control. It's hard not to "see identity groups" when certain groups are demonized, including in this thread. I'd be quite happy if accent and skin color were meaningless, but when having a certain skin color or accent gets you stopped and frisked in New York or subject to citizenship verification in Arizona, you can't tell those on the receiving end to stop seeing "identity politics". When men say that women who support access to birth control are sluts and prostitutes, you can't tell women to stop seeing "identity politics". The reason for "identity politics" remaining is that discrmination remains. And straight white men telling us to shut up about it doesn't work. We saw that last night.

You disgust me. Really, your posts are the most hateful, bigoted, and angry on this board, and have been for some time.

Wow. Hateful and bigoted? I guess Papa G really hates cats.

Ted Nugent (why pay attention? Well, he is actually a Washington Times columnist) said the re-election was due to "subhuman varmints" who want to "destroy America", and referred to Obama supporters as "pimps, whores, and welfare brats".

I guess that isn't hateful, though? But saying the country is more Black and Latino, and that more people know open gays is hateful. Go figure.
