The Minnesota Wild have traded for Quinn Hughes, sources told ESPN. The return: Zeev Buium, Marco Rossi, Liam Ohgren and a 1st round pick.

To me this trade once again highlights big time how inept our Pres/GM is. Drury would never EVER have the strategic/creative mindset OR the balls/courage to make a trade like this. It's why Fox is still here, why Zibanejad is still here, why Lafreniere is still here etc.

To make a move like this you have to really have all the things Drury lacks. You also need to have a plan, which very clearly Drury does not, and the foresight to see what is and isn't going to work, which once again very clearly Drury does not. I give the Vancouver GM a ton of credit for acting when his team showed it was going nowhere; he hit the reset button to take 2-steps back for hopefully 3-steps or 4-steps forward in the future.

It's a sad pathetic existence these days with a "leader" who is in way over his head and has NO CLUE how to get anything real or major done, and he has absolutely zero plan to build a championship team.

I agree with those of you who started pointing all of this out and calling Drury what he is, TERRIBLE as his jobs. And we'll all suffer because of it.

OK, fine...but keep in mind, only one GM was able to pull it off. Is that an indictment on all of the other GMs or just Drury? Not trying to defend the guy but trying to use an example of how two teams came to a trade agreement as an example of why Drury sucks isn't the strongest argument. He can control only what is in his control. There are plenty of other things that you can pin on Drury being completely out of his depth as GM.

Not to mention Buium is an elite defenseman prospect who I think will be better all around than Hughes in two years. Hughes like Jack gets hurt an awful lot. Much like Fox another guy their size has started doing. Rossi while short is built like a tank and has played 82 games the previous two years and had 60 points at the center position and is 24. Buium is six years younger than Hughes. We don’t have anything close to offer them with that value.

Here's the Drury argument. The team has gotten progressively worse under him. He very clearly has no cohesive plan. He has gone through numerous coaches. He has made many mind-boggling trades/signings. He refuses to accept/acknowledge this team is terrible and needs to be retooled. The list of his failures is long.

To me, every Rangers fan should be calling for this guy to be fired immediately. He is terrible.

Sure, only one GM made that specific trade, but that really isn't the point. The point is this, Drury has no balls/courage/strategy/creativity to do what needs to be done. It's why guys like Fox and Lafreniere are still here.

And I think you are confused kreider, we shouldn't be the team trading for a Hughes type player, we should be the team trading away a Hughes type player (Fox/Lafreniere/Zibanejad etc. - not saying they are equal to Hughes, but we can get solid returns for all). So, our prospect pool doesn't matter as we'd be the team getting the prospects/picks/young players.

Simple question everyone should be thinking about, does anyone have faith Drury is the right guy to retool this team/make the right moves to get this team back on top? I think that's a very easy answer, and I'd think outside of maybe one or two fans, no one feels Drury is the right guy for that very needed job.

The current team is absolutely unwatchable and horrific with zero depth, and a bunch of 4th line players throughout the lineup. That's just the way it is sadly. Thank you, Pres/GM Chris Drury.

You don’t need the write four fucking paragraphs every time, dude.

I tune out after the first sentence. Just fucking sum it up already

Point is the Rangers need a GM who can recognize failure and have a plan to position the team to succeed in the future. Drury has not shown an ability to be that GM.

All Dolan cares about is making money. He doesn't give a shit if the Rangers will suck for the next 10 years.

Totally agree, it's why a guy like Drury doesn't have to worry for his job, and Sather had the same "job security" before him.

It's also why I can pretty confidently say any Pres/GM of the Rangers is under pressure to never go backwards and build the right way, the mandate is win now at all costs. That means sign big name vets past their prime and never do it the right way. It ensures Dolan will have what he covets most, a sold-out MSG and max rev/money. The letter is the one exception in decades of Rangers hockey.

It is why Dolan is a terrible owner, he's willing to spend money, but that's not the only thing that makes someone a good owner. He always wants a quick fix to keep the building packed and the Rangers buzz going.

Drury will never lose his job; it's a sad reality for the Rangers.
