There have been several players screwed over for the MVP awards over the years, like......

Peckinpaugh over Simmons in 1925
Cochrane over Manush in 1928
Frisch over Klein in 1931
Cochrane over Gehrig in 1934 BTW: Gehrig won the triple crown that year & finished 5th.
Wills over Mays, Davis, Robinson & Aaron in 1962 (amazing what 104 SBs will get you.
Fingers over ANYBODY in the strike shortened season of 1981.
Hernandez over Donnie (baseball) Mattingly in 1984 (Major joke)
Larkin over Bichette in 1995 (I'll never get that one).

But the big all time winner of the I GOT SCREWED AWARD goes to Ted Williams,

1941 He led the league in 8 offensive categories including his 406 batting average but lost out to a 56 game hitting streak.

1942 Led the league in 10 offensive categories including the TRIPLE CROWN but lost out to Joe Gordon who led the league in NOTHING!

1947 Led the league in 10 offensive categories including the TRIPLE CROWN but lost out to Joe DiMaggio who led the league in 2

I know the guy was known to be surly but maybe he had reason.

And finally speaking of Triple crowns did you know that since 1911 (1st year of MVPs) that of the 12 players that have won the triple crown 5 of them didn't win the MVP......

Rogers Hornsby in 1922
Chuck Klein in 1933
Lou Gehrig in 1934
Ted Williams 1942
Ted Williams 1947
