Coup, no. Witch hunt, possibly. I think the basis of the investigation--whether Russians interfered in the election--is completely valid. However I've been under the impression (however accurate) that the focus shifted from seeking the truth of the accusation to seeking any opportunity to impugn and/or discredit the President.

IMO, that's the point when justice gets undermined: when it becomes more about the accused than the accusation itself.
