<{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Wow, I hate the names on this short list. We are about to continue in our strong tradition of bad drafts.
First off, Westbrook will be terrible! Has anyone watched this guy? I watched a lot of his games, he's not a point, and he's not a 2 guard. He cannot shoot, and he didn't average more than 2 assists or so. He's a tweener that will be good for nothing and possibly out of the league after his rookie contract expires. Lopez, bleh, whatever. And Galinari is another soft Euro. Is this really the best we can do?</div>
Did you really watch him play? In workouts with other teams he shot 36 out of 50 for threes (led all pg's). His midrange game is really really good. He gets a high release(for his size) and can stop in a dime. He's a great defender(what the Nets need off the bench). If he falls and the Nets don't draft him that would be a huge mistake.
</div>
Maybe if he falls to the second round. Do you really want to draft another backup point at 21? Like Marcus Williams? At least Williams was among the nation's leaders in assists. Westbrook averaged 2.5 assists for his college career (4.3 last year)? And he never had a double digit assist game either. Are those the numbers of a first round point guard? No freakin' way. So, he's neither a true shooter, or a point. He's a tweener that will be exposed at the next level, watch.
</div>
Not a shooter, not a point, he'll be exposed and suck like Monta Ellis.
</div>
lol, yeah, he's the next Monta Ellis. Every tweener is now the next Ellis. Ellis would've averaged 20 points in his sleep at a major D1 school. Westbrook averaged what, 12? So, he's not a scorer either. That's strike 3 by the way. Maybe he's got great intangibles, though, lol.
</div>
I guess that's why Monta Ellis fell to the 40's! A guy who could average 20 ppg in his sleep, 40th overall pick.
</div>
Wow, are you a myopic, uninformed soul. Ellis came out of high school, right after other high school guards like Telfair had busted, that's why he went so low. You think he wouldn't have averaged 20 plus somewhere in college? You are seriously in a dreamworld comparing Ellis to Westbrook. And if Westbrook was that good, he would've gotten more minutes as a freshman. Again, Westbrook shot 33 % from college 3 last year. That is pretty awful. And you want to draft a backup guard with a questionable jumper with the 10th pick? Why don't we just redraft Tamar Slay, Zoran Planinic or Antoine Wright? How about hoping for a little more and don't settle for such mediocrity. Christ, these boards are as frustrating as watching a Nets game.
</div>
They are frustrating because someone disagrees with you? Maybe you shouldn't post on message boards if you feel that way.
Why are so many teams enamored with Westbrook, and why is he a probable top 10 pick, but you seem to be the only one that knows how bad he is? Crazy.
I don't understand how you say I'm being myopic, when you are obviously in the minority about Westbrook here. He's a consensus top 10 pick and YOU are the only one who doesn't like him and are telling us we should just change our opinion to agree with YOU. Talk about myopic.
</div>
You want to see a list of complete busters that were consensus top 10 picks? It's endless. That means absolutely nothing. The reason it's frustrating isn't that you disagree. It's that all you are doing is regurgitating what you've heard. And more importantly, you still haven't explained why you'd settle for a backup guard that's going to play about 16 minutes per game behind Harris and Carter? What's the point of that with the 10th pick???? Harris is going to be here a long time. And Carter's not going anywhere. How about we get a starter with the 10th pick? You're using flawed logic, like just saying "well, he's the probably the next Monta Ellis!" Okay, then I'll just say that Joe Alexander may be the next Jerry West and DeAndre Jordan is the next Kevin Garnett. How about basing your opinions on the numbers they've put up, instead of just spewing names.
Bottom line, we'll just have to wait and see. Good news is, it looks like he'll be gone by the 10th pick, so some other team will regret having him and not the Nets.
