How many times does an idiot have to make idiotic statements before you decide that they are an idiot and view anything they say in such a light?

Personally, I try to avoid making such classifications. If my 8-year-old daughter is capable of occasionally making a salient point which causes me to reconsider a position, why should I assume that any adult isn't capable of the same?

You just validated my argument. I'm not saying that Sarah Palin is incapable of making valid points, its that I'm going to look at anything she says through the light of "she's an opportunistic idiot", and then after further reflection, if it has validity, then I'll treat it as such. Her track record ain't great, though.

I would argue that what you've posted above is a significant departure from your original post. This makes a lot more sense than where you started.

Really? I don't think that at all. I viewed the statements I referenced in my original post as the "opportunistic idiot" Palin making another base-serving set of statements that put her nose right into a foreign policy situation that didn't need her ignorant input, and in fact, could have harmed the U.S.'s handling of the situation.

Feinstein is the Senate Intelligence Committee chair, and she has a right to voice a learned opinion on the matter, which she did, voicing legitimate concerns of minority radical Islamic factions using the crisis to seize control, and that the US had an interest in making sure that didn't happen.

She didn't use the crisis to score political points against a potential future election opponant by making accusations that the White House was "asleep at the wheel" and "avoiding informing the American people" about the Egyptian situation, which was about as far away from the truth as humanly possible. But for the millions of idiots that think Palin's opinions means more than a pile of shit, her words become their gospel. And that's what's dangerous.

If you want me to post the entire transcript of her interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network and refute her statements word-by-word, don't hold your breath. I have better things to do.

How do you know Feinstein's motivations for questioning if forcing Mubarak out without knowledge of his replacement? Also, were you this outraged during the 8 year non-stop bashing of Bush? I just find you targeting Palin for your anger odd, since she supposedly has presidential aspirations. Disagree with her opinions, sure, but your bizarre belief that she shouldn't offer her opinion on Egypt at all, and the obvious anger you displayed toward her (and not her words), are telling, Chris.

Sarah Palin: Smoking Pot Is No Big Deal

Sarah Palin says recreational pot smoking is "relatively speaking a minimal problem" in America.

"I think we need to prioritize our law enforcement efforts," she said. "If somebody's gonna smoke a joint in their house and not do anybody any harm, then perhaps there are other things our cops should be looking at to engage in and try to clean up some of the other problems we have in society."

Allen St. Pierre, the director of NORML, which supports liberalizing drug laws, said Palin's position on pot is perfectly in line with her identity as a politician.

"If you're a populist as she appears to be, it's maybe not that surprising," he told AOL News in a phone interview today.

But has the former Republican vice presidential candidate ever lit up a joint?

You betcha. In Alaska, it was legal to smoke small amounts of marijuana until four years ago, and Palin has said that she's tried it but didn't like it.
