Nurkic was made to play with the ball going through him. His ability, and seemingly joy of passing is perfect for it. I'm really hoping we install some of the old Rocket sets when Hakeem was there. Utilizing his low post scoring and passing ability. They also, like Portland with Sabas, utilized the Princeton offense a bit. Back door screens with his passing and our shooters would be effective.

Loved the 95' Rockets with Hakeem and Drexler. Speaking of Hou, the best the Blazers looked in the last few years was when Aldridge was dominating the post in the first round of the playoffs against them. It's not a stretch to say Stotts can/will adjust to a legit post threat, it's glaringly obvious that's what this team has been sorely lacking.

He's so nimble. Reminds me of Boogie.

Just looks a bit turnover prone though. Needs to get some chemistry with this team. I keep forgetting that he's only a year older than Noah (and 2.5 yrs younger than Meyers). The tools are there and he's sooooo young

Those 2 games were due to McHale's lack of adjustments, not due to Stotts' adjustments. Then McHale adjusted.

I was surprised to see him go for 38 in game 1 against the thunder and 41 in game 2.
But then again, Aldridge was always super efficient against the Thunder in his Portland days.
They, like the Rockets in 14 had no one to check Aldridge.

You saying anyone who would offer Chandler Parsons $22 million per year is a fool?

Fool..... Is that like the Knicks thinking Melo is a leader?

That's exactly the word that immediately came to mind while watching him. For his size, he's unbelievably nimble. That spin move for his first basket; that rebound that he grabbed and then started the fast break with a behind-the-back-dribble; his quick hands - I fucking love this guy already! He's definitely a little raw around the edges, but he has all the raw ingredients to be a VERY good center.

Three things I look for in a big man:
1. Good hands-- he's got em
2. Good feet -- he's so light on his feet
3. Knows how to use his size -- check

He's 22. Can't wait to watch this dude develop. Now is when we need to invest big in a dedicated coach for this guy. And working out with Dame/CJ should provide all the motivation he needs.

the spin move was pretty good too. it made me think of the hawks game and how the blazers posted nards doing that getting is only two points. it was like nurk saw that and made sure to rub it in that he was better at it.

I like his touch off the glass...the guy has good english on his layup and can score....fearless in the paint...nobody will push him off the block if he gets set

He damn well better. You gotta feed that big man. If I see a bunch of fucking weaving and perimeter passing...

Kind of bummed I didn't actually get to watch the game last night, but if he was good as everybody says he was, then I don't think Stotts is going to have much choice but to try and play through him (assuming he can be consistent).

The question remains, if CJ and Lillard are going to become more willing passers, but it should be obvious that if Nurkic can be played through (without turning it over a ton) then he should make their lives easier.

I am not really too concerned about Terry adjusting. Did he not go through LMA in the past?
And I am not too concerned with Dame and CJ giving up he ball. Did Plumlee not get plenty of assists? He got the ball from someone.

Not to mention, he kept his eyes open while defending

Remember my contact lens theory from about 3 years ago, which explains everything about Leonard.

He wasn't any more effective than Plumlee, but his effectiveness is close to the basket like a real center, not far, like a natural power forward, which is what I keep advocating for Plumlee.

Can't see it from behind the firewall at work ...

The highlight reel shows that he loves to spin 360 when he receives the ball, ending the spin a couple steps closer to the basket.

The good thing is that Nurk is a better passer than LMA. I think Stotts/Dame will definitely get the ball to him in the post, and if we can throw in some weak-side screens for Harkless/Crabbe/Dame/CJ I have no doubt Nurk can hit them with a pass for an easy basket.

The thing I worry (not worry, but...) about is that they aren't going to hit Nurk when he slips behind the defense and is open under the hoop. He seems to have a knack for getting to an open spot once his defender commits to stopping the ball, but neither Dame nor CJ seem to recognize those sorts of opportunities. I hope that it's an area of emphasis over the summer because it'll lead to easier opportunities for both Dame/CJ and for Nurk if it's utilized regularly.

Plumlee can be a PF on defense, but to be one on offense he would need to play with a center who can spread the floor. Plums can't drift too far from the basket on offense IMO.

Coming from you, I figured it had to be a good one, so I took the time to find it. Yup....
As he rubs his reddened face, his eyes almost in tears, lacking court awareness, I still hypothesize contact lens irritation inhibiting his eyeball rotation and peripheral vision.
And actually, the whole thread is pretty damn funny. It should be linked in the current Meyers "fan" thread.....

I think losing Aldridge made him have to adjust. He is clearly much more comfortable with a post player to run the offense through.

We ran some plays that we literally haven't run since Aldridge left. Dame, CJ, and Crabbe looked like they remembered those plays and I'm sure there will be more. Since Nurkic is also a good passer like Plumlee was, I think we won the trade.
