I guess I should mention that I have no trouble with that being published. It is a legit opinion piece even if it is terribly sad to read.

Very interesting and provocative opinion piece. Great job publishing this NYT!

As far as the content, I see a lot of truth in it even if it goes too far in my opinion.

It's sad when racists like this guy exploit their own children and make shit up just to further their own despicable causes.

His kids probably deserve better.

The same people who clamor on about hate speech seem to have no problem providing a platform for it. I guess if they weren't manufacturing hate all the time there would be nothing to bitch about to get attention. This isn't intriguing or thought-provoking. It's uninformed, racist bullshit.

This article saddens and and angers me. It assumes the majority of white people are racists who look down on people of color. It assumes the relationship between white and black people can only be defined by the politics of race and economics. I could care less about the color of skin.
I will teach my son about our history without whitewashing it. I will teach him about the inequalties in our country. I will teach him about right and wrong. I will teach him love. And, I will teach him that he can be friends with children of any and every color.

He doesn’t lump all whites together however he certainly doesn’t provide an adequate number of classifications. He seems to have 1) the overtly racist like those in Charlotte, 2) other whites who support Trump who he thinks at least turn a blind eye, 3) other whites who don’t actively stand for him but you could have a beer with or watch a game and 4) those who do go out and actively support civil rights issues like protesting Trumps Muslim ban who he says can be true friends.

I wholeheartedly agree there are far more people on the side of Civil Rights than he gives credit but he does do some differentiation.

Excuse me, the majority.

I love how people act like white people threw out the black president and replaced him with whitey. They completely ignore term limits, who won primaries, and that voting for president should have nothing to fucking do with what race he/she is.

Obama didnt lose to whitey, he got his 8 year max term. Get the fuck over it.

I work in a unique environment where no body cares if your black or white. My first two acquaintances were retired black men from Dept. of Corrections and Rutgers maintenance staff. We didn't care about skin color. We cared about the fact we made retirement and were in a place were everyone enjoyed good jokes and comradery. We all ridicule car dealers for their absurdity and clueless walks in front of our cars in the auction lane. On the other days, you drive cars from one lot to another all conducted by a squad of 10 guys in a van. We don't work there for a handsome salary. We all work there for our friendships.

That's really pathetic. I don't know what's worse, that a small portion of the population feels that way about the color of a psychopath's skin or that a large portion believes that all white people think like that.
Not close to all white people, but I do think a majority of Trump supporters think that way. And that’s a lot of folks.

Well I don’t have a way to know for certain, but I do believe a large percent of Trump supporters are racist.
Of course a decent percent are. How much is a large number and even if they are racist what kind of stupid logic does it involve to be unable to see that importing more violent idiots is a bad idea?

That's the same idiotic line of thinking people use when an illegal kills someone driving drunk...."but but but Americans drive drunk and kill people"

I'd want to bet you 10 million dollars that a decent amount of Hillary voters are racists too. Don't have the money and ability to prove it but I'm just as sure of it as you are Trump. I'd concede that it is probably a smaller number but so what?

The sad part about this article is that it’s a huge generalization of white people and it’s also alarming how popular it has become to shit on white people. It’s hypocrisy at its finest. Complaining about racism by being racist. Another point of me posting this is the fact it’s the New York Times putting this shit out. We live in a time where the media really is untrustworthy and it’s clear what their agendas are and what ideology they align with

What do you suppose that first word beginning with O means, in what you linked? It's a mystery, isn't it?

Opinion: Can My Children Be Friends With White People?

Though I have nothing but contempt for the extremely bigoted and racist opine of Ekow N. Yankah, I will defend his right to do so until my last breath.

Right but come on. This opinion is a bit extreme and there are no valid points at all. It’s a shame New York Times even associates with it. It’s a racist opinion. Plain and simple. Ignorant one as well

Fair. I see opinions like it all the time. They can exist but it’s a low for the New York Times.

Coming from you this is hilarious.

Regardless of what the story says, none of you have to be friends with us, and you can lead your happy lives without ever worrying about racism affecting any of you.

What? It’s not about that. The same way you point out racism time to time, sometimes warranted others not, I’m just doing the same. This person who did this piece is obviously fairly ignorant and just plain absurd.
