Dean Blandino confirmed the rule change during a radio interview with "The Dan Patrick Show" on Tuesday. He said dunking the ball over the crossbar will now be considered a foul along with other touchdown celebrations that involve props.

Previously, dunks were grandfathered in as a legal celebration, along with the Lambeau Leap.

They really take that "No Fun League" thing to heart, don't they?

The NFL could knock on every NFL fans door, piss on their feet and still be the most popular sport in the US.

Fucking love football (especially when the Blazers are playing like this)

I will enjoy when the NFL implodes on itself. Horrible sport.

They should ban the Lambeau Leap as well, then.

This is another instance of Nate merely reading the headline and reacting as if the sky is falling. The Lambeau leap is fine. Having the game delayed twice because Jimmy Graham breaks the goal posts is not.

Graham is clearly the main inspiration for the rule. Twice in his career, his celebratory dunks have knocked the uprights off balance. Last season in Atlanta, a Thursday night game had to be delayed while workers releveled the crossbar.

I watched that Thursday night game and was pissed.

Nate's quote in his post mentions that that Lambeau leap is okay.

I can understand why the NFL would get rid of the goal post dunk, considering it has lead to in-game delays.

I also heard the NFL was doing it so as not to allow players to believe they could have NBA careers instead of football careers. Another way to hold suppress and hold them down! :MARIS61:

Players have been dunking on the goal posts for years without any problems (Terrell Owens, Vernon Davis, etc).

So one guy comes along and ruins it for everyone else? Why not just fine the shit out of Graham?

I would be fine with throwing a player out of the game and suspending him for the next if the game is delayed.

I just equate this to maybe one fatass player jumping into the stands and hurting a fan. Players have been jumping into the stands for decades, but the NFL would probably ban it because of the liability.
