Seems pretty clear to me that the Yanx are not going to make any big changes...looks like Cashman and Boone will keep their jobs and perpetuate their ineptitude.

So instead of focussing on the real problem which begins with the Owner/GM/Manager as well as selfish players, they instead blindly assume that the problem lies with the hitting/pitching coaches.
Cashman is the father of our poorly constructed roster and and has time and again shown that he's incapable of drafting and developing young talent. And what fucking good does it do to have hitting coaches when most of our batters stubbornly refuse to change their hitting approach, especially with 2 strikes and especially with RISP?
When has anyone's line up with mostly mashers ever won a WS?...we simply do not have enough of "real players". Conversely, take a look at Houston, TB, Boston. LA, and SF, who all have much more diverse line ups than the Yanx. "Home run or bust" line ups may garner a winning record during the regular season but they are generally exposed and throttled when facing both quality pitching and defense once the PS begins.

I really wish Hal would start reading Yankee message boards instead of his profit and loss sheet...if he did, maybe he'd better understand what makes up the backbone of his franchise...the fans, and they are frustrated and pissed off.

Instead of looking into the mirror, I'm still shaking my head at Hal, Cashman, and Boone labeling lower level coaches as the. root of the team's problem.


With this kind of "pretzel logic", there's no reason to expect better results next year.
 
..just my 2 cents,...if the Braves don't resign him, I'd love to have Charlie Morton on a ONE year incentive based contract.
 
Morton was signed to an additional one year contract extension by the Braves in Sept 2021. Smart move on their part.

The only thing I would say to that 59 is Ive found it interesting over the years for our minor leaguers to take forever to get up here. I don't know any of the coaches down at lower levels but that could be one of the problems with the young kids. Either that or they were never that good to begin with.

Yup, the coaches I was talking about were the 1B and 3B coaches and the hitting coaches who've recently been fired...but yeah, it seems the whole system is lacking and I think it's a case of poor scouting which translates into poor drafting and the players that are drafted are poorly groomed...I mean damn, it's been 30 years since we drafted a pitcher who wound up doing anything. ( Andy Pettitte)

The Yanx and Cashman have for too long simply whipped out the checkbook to sign big name mercenaries, who seldom worked out.
 
Yup I heard that I just hope they can win without him.
 
I see the Padres hired Bob Melvin to a 3 year contract. That is called aiming high. Casmans choice was the bottom line

Imo, Trashman does not know talent when he sees it, at the very best maybe it's debatable, i.e., identifying talent in the minors

Worse yet he's ruining minor Leaguers like Florial by bringing them up and letting Boone screw with their heads as to when he's going to insert them into a lineup.

I'd like to see Hicks traded to.

Would like to see Rizzo come back if the salary and service time are fair for akk. As for the remaining FA Personnel so long it's been good to know you. Brett Gardner thanks for your service enjoy your retiretirement.

From what I've read, Gardner may still sign with the Yanx...or better yet, with another team.

Hate to lose Velasquez...the kid plays the game with passion and I loved watching him play in the field and at bat.

Cashman continues his inane and inept "managing".
 
Gardner declined a 2.3 million sollar player option, and the Yankees chose a 1.3 million dollar buyout. My bad, I thought 2021 was a final contracct. Given the free agent situaion I'd say Gardner will retire. I once heard CC Sabathia state that Gardner would have retired has he not got that final contract. I liked Gardner, considered him a pretty goood Yankee but it's time to move on. Velasquez, stoked a lot of Yankees Fans so the top stooges let him gett away, that'll put fannies in the seats.

  • Atlanta made a series of July acquisitions and went on to its first World Series title since 1995.

"We have seen the championship in 60 days," he said. "The rules allow them to be a less-than-.500 team at Aug. 1 and add four players, five players from teams that no longer wanted to compete and for very little cost change the entirety of their team and season.

"And we saw this unfold to the detriment of teams that create at vast expense, planning and intellect and won over 100 games. In doing all this, we have now created an understanding that a fan would not know who the true team is until, frankly, the trading deadline."

Boras blames the turn toward tanking on restraints imposed on amateur spending in 2012. The caps came as the Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros undertook painful rebuilds that resulted in World Series titles, informing decisions by other clubs to tear down. Boras represents many top draft picks and has lost revenue because of the system of draft signing pools.

"It created an incentive for the race to the bottom, because now we have half the major league teams at some time during the season being noncompetitive, trading off their players, making the game and the season very different than what it was intended to be, and that was having an incentive to win every game that you play," he said.

Boras represents five of the eight men on the union's executive subcommittee: Zack Britton, Gerrit Cole, James Paxton, Max Scherzerand Marcus Semien, who switched his agency to Boras last month. Jason Castro, Francisco Lindor and Andrew Miller are the other members.

As usual, Boras arrived armed with colorful descriptions and comparisons for his players and some of the teams in play to sign them.

• On free-agent slugger Nick Castellanos: "I kind of advised all of you like two years ago, St. Nick was going to bring a lot of presents, and frankly, we're just going to sit back and see what teams have been naughty and nice."

• He compared Kris Bryant to Sean Connery, saying "he has Bond-like abilities to create a great middle of the lineup. He's always red-hot in the hunt for October. He's an extraordinary gentleman and is in a league of his own."

• Boras expressed satisfaction in pitcher Carlos Rodon not receiving a qualifying offer from the Chicago White Sox, as he says it was created to "weigh" down free agents.

"We're pursuing a multiyear contract. We weren't going to sign a one-year contract."

• Former Mets outfielder Michael Conforto had become the "King of Queens," Boras said, but "in free agency now, he's kind of like the ace of many GMs' hearts." Mets president Sandy Alderson responded: "Those comments I would characterize as a blowhard in a house of cards."

• For infielder Semien: "He kind of brings a charge in the batter's box and kind of, you know, he insulates the middle infield. So he's truly a modern-day Semien conductor, and we all know there's a shortage of chips worldwide."

• Shortstop Corey Seager is "like a rock," Boras said. "Of course, his parents knew this. That's why they named him Corey."

• On the Mets, whose search for a general manager has dragged on: "Well, there are 29 teams that have their big carts out there, and they're filling them up now. Now, probably when you look at the old adage, 'What's upsetting the big apple cart?' And it might be that it's rather unattended at the moment. I'm sure that will be there, and we know that in our shopping malls, we're very welcoming of the big apple cart." Said Alderson: "So he's changed the supermarket metaphor to something vehicular, I guess, and I'm not really prepared to respond. I had a great answer for the supermarket question, but I'll keep it to myself."

Asked if New York was a stable organization, Alderson said: "I think we're working toward a stable environment."

• On the possibility of a free-agent spree in February or March at the end of a potential signing freeze that might accompany a lockout: "Talent is the steak, and I don't really care what time dinner is."
