Woohoo! We got brook Lopez? Dang?!

I guess 2 backup centers might make 1 real center?

Meh

Meh

I think it is more like 3 back up centers could make 1 decent center.
All three need to go all out for 10-15 minutes.

Fucking brilliant.

Robinson and Lopez for virtually nothing

16/8/2 blks per 36 with an 18.9 PER is a solid C

Barring injury we have a chance to be damn good

Absolutely!!!! I'm so impressed with how he was able to grab talent for basically nothing.

Curious if other teams are going "wtf just happened?!" Regarding portland's acquisitions of trob and Lopez?

Hell ya. I've mentioned wanting him in the past. Decent acquisition.

Im happy just as much as anyone else here, but it still seems to me like we are doing this to appease Aldridge and nothing suggests to me he will stay. Then again Lopez is still fairly young as is all our other players, so I guess I cannot complain much.

As long as every piece we acquire to appease LMA is younger than LMA, we're simply getting better regardless of what he does.

And remember that trob and Lopez are on great contracts, so shipping them for other players will be fairly easy if Aldridge truly does want out.

I was kind of thinking I'd rather trade Aldridge than acquire players like Robin Lopez

That said, anytime you can pick up talent without giving up assets it's not a bad move, especially when you are talent deprived like the Blazers are.

The Blazers still need more difference makers, though. Right now it's just Lillard and Aldridge. Maybe stockpiling these assets will help Olshey acquire some real players down the road.

Probably what he meant when he said they were going to be aggressive. Get in as many discussions as possible and use the cap space to "help" everyone out. Including the Blazers

Well, last year at this time we had Joel Freeland, a rookie Leonard and Hickson ally battling it out for the center job. Lopez/Leonard/Withey are definitely more intriguing to me. You have a proven starting quality center, an offensive specialist and a defensive specialist, all legitimate 7 footers. Plus Robinson, who can let Aldridge slide to C at times as well. Portland suddenly has quite a lot of size and length at its big positions.

Absolutely. These moves are very Morey-esque. Accumulate as many assets as you can, then when a homerun opportunity comes along (like Harden), you're in a prime position to make a deal.

What if "future draft considerations" means next year's first rounder? It can't, right?

Nope, we can't trade it because we owe it to Charlotte.

Besides, if it was a first rounder, I think Woj would have specified it was. Usually when it's just "future draft considerations" it's a second rounder in a much later year.

Well he better hurry up

Because making these moves just to get to .500 is pointless. I'd rather the Blazers just trade Aldridge and be terrible.

I don't understand how people don't like this. It's asset acquisition and we picked up a center that would have cost more if he were a FA this year. We're not done. Aside from a small signing or two, we may be done for a bit. But I expect NO will continue to maneuver his assets into upgrades. I'd say he's done a nice job thus far.

I still think Joel can be a decent back up PF. (Not center) Of course I would rather trade his contract if possible, but if we keep him I think he can give us quality minutes if there was an injury to LMA or TRob. He just needed minutes last year so he could adjust. He got better as the year went on.

You know the Rockets were basically stuck in .500 land when Yao retired. Because of Morey's moves, within 3 years, they now have a superstar and are the frontrunners for signing Dwight Howard.

Just saying.

Between Eric Maynor, Thomas Robinson and Robin Lopez, Neil Olshey’s roster-building strategy best described as soup kitchen scrounging

So, next years Starting (as of now)

Lillard
Wes
Batum
Aldridge
Lopez

Bench:
T-Rob, CJ, Leonard, Withey, Pavlovic, Claver, Barton, Crabbe, ? (FA PF)

Looks like a playoff team to me.

While trades are likely, what isn't is the option of signing a player like Dwight for us. We all know how crappy Oregon is, taxes wise, weather wise and everything. We will have to do it through trades and trades only.
