Portland Trail Blazers: Constructing ideal Danilo Gallinari trade package
The Portland Trail Blazers have long needed a third scorer to become title contenders. Packaging a deal for Danilo Gallinari may be their best option.

Following the recent implosion of the Oklahoma City Thunder, their assets have become available to the open market as they look to make the most of their historic war chest of draft assets. Danilo Gallinari was recently acquired in the trade that sent Paul George to the LA Clippers and should be at the top of the Portland Trail Blazers list of priorities......

nope. I might do Bazemore & Trent for Gallo; and I might not. But I sure as hell wouldn't include a 1st. Gallo has missed 135 games over the last 5 seasons. He's only averaged 55 games. Let some other team send a 1st for him, if any will.

Apparently we traded one of the most beautiful players in the league:

That’s ok, I prefer my team to be ugly and nasty and not give one shit about Instagram.

I also don't understand the hype for Philadelphia. Yeah they got Horford and Richardson which help make a hell of a starting 5 (Simmons, Richardson, Harris, Horford, Embiid) but they barely have a bench. I don't think they are as good as they are made out to be. It certainly helps they are in the east.
They’re maybe the biggest starting lineup in the history of the game. They could win it all.

CP3 supposedly wants to go to Miami. I wonder what the Heat would need to give up to get him.

Watching back game vs Clippers and had to clip this play.

Dame's game is so precise and purposeful.

That was a ridiculous spin and pass by Dame. But it highlights a point that i've been saying for a bit now. Who will now be our automatic corner 3pt shooter?

On the Simmons pod with Lowe (excellent listen btw), Bill yet again brought up the idea of how we have all these great assets to make the move for the next disgruntled superstar.

He thinks we can get Beal and add him to our backcourt. I don't see it ever happening, but our backcourt would be unstoppable. Beal has swung to SF on occasion in Washington over his career. Maybe it can work.

We would never ever swap CJ for Beal, although this would make sense as Lillard/Beal would be a better backcourt.

CJ for Harris, and a bunch of assets for Beal would make perfect sense but again, I doubt it has any likelihood of happening.

Simmons mentioned adding Beal to Dame/CJ. Not trading CJ for Beal.

Seth is an elite 3pt shooter and none of the new guys are in his 45% class, but I think the difference can be made up by the fact that overall there’s improvement. First, it’s easy to overstate Seth’s importance due to his relatively low volume. He shot 45%, but only got 3.4 attempts per game. That equals 4.59 ppg on average. Guys like Hood, Hezonja, Tolliver, and Bazemore are all good 3 pt shooters. Harkless was dreadful last year. Chief was streaky as hell. ET was a disaster. It seems as though the difference in pts scored off of the 3 ball overall can be made up. But, yeah, I will miss Seth’s money stroke from the corner.

I never realized Beal was 6'5, 207 lb. And he has a 6'8 wingspan. Not great, but enough to play SF for half the game. Even CJ played SF for nearly 30% of his overall minutes last season. We'd need to put a really strong and long defender at PF who can swing down a position but I really wonder if this can work. Someone like Covington would be perfect.

Dame/CJ/Beal/Roco/Nurk is a nasty lineup. Two of our three perimeter stars would be on the floor at all times. Offense would be unstoppable if everyone sacrifices touches.

Yooooo

Guess who has ways of opening up capspace next year. Would be the ultimate coup if Dame could land our first major free agent ever and get him away from LA. We all thought Kyrie was re-sign in Boston until this year.

Chances that AD, signed with Lebrons agency, forced a trade to Lebron and the Lakers and leaves next summer are like 1 in a million...?

So Im saying theres a chance.

Two of Rich Paul's clients just fired him this weekend.

Also, it's interesting you used "Lebron's agency." Thought he had nothing to do with it?

I thought it was the SF, Hood and Baze, that would be in that spot. But, CJ or Collins could also be there.

The only way AD leaves the Lakers/Lebron is if he fires Paul imo. Unlike Morris, he doesn’t seem like he has the balls to do such a thing.

Has something like this ever happened in the history of the modern NBA? I mean a huge superstar leaving big market to join one of the smallest markets in the league.

Dragic/Johnson matches easily and saves OKC a ton.
Miami is hard capped because of the Butler sign and trade, and they're currently sitting about 400k below the cap. Dragic and johnson isnt enough $$going out to keep them below the cap. And if you send more, roster spots become a big issue, as well as added tax to okc. They'll almost certainly need a 3rd team involved. Will be interesting to see if they could.figure it out.

I’m not sure Miami will really try that hard to accommodate Paul trade. Seems too much of a hassle for a player that is well past his best.

Not with Space Jam and all anyway, but fun to think about. Kinda glad we seem like we're gonna open up flexibility next season. Will prolly end up with about 15-20 mil of space, but it's not THAT hard to open up 10 more. If we ever were to try to add someone, it would be next summer before Dame's supermax kicks in.

Yeah it's not difficult to dumb salary, we've seen this many times this summer

I think Miami would have to send more because they are hard capped after trading for Butler
Yep, you're right. Guess I gotta rework it.
