@SlyPokerDog can we have a post of the year award? Obviously I would win it every year, but would be willing to back out of the competition to let some of these losers get more than a spelling bee participation trophy to hang on their wall.

Since I'm the only one here who ever won a spelling bee, this thread must be about me. Quality thread!

Actually, you're not

Wrong, I was the fifth grade champ at my grade school, Forest Hills elementary in Oswego.

Your views have always tended to be "slanted". #BAM

I see that there's been a little understandable confusion and I don't want to further it. While I'm Asian, I'm not what Americans think of as "Asian"...I'm Indian (that is, of ancestry from India, not Native American).

When Americans think of Asia, they usually don't think of India, I've noticed. Whereas, in the UK, Asia means India first to most people and then the other nations. That's been my observation anyway.

So was I. And then I won against my district, and then the county. Finished 5th in state. So, I was 5 places from going to the Scripps National in DC. It has all been downhill since.

Never had spelling bees when I was in school, which disappointed me as I am a very good speller.

Not a good typist, though.

I once entered a baking contest. Created a tropical fruit cheesecake and if I say so myself it was gorgeous and delicious. But one entrant was a member of the group sponsoring the contest. Four of five judges wanted to give me first prize, but the fifth, the chair of the group, started pressuring them until two changed their votes and his strawberry cake won 3 to 2. One of the judges who wouldn't change his vote was outraged enough to tell me about it. We had to attach recipe and instructions, so I know the so called winner used package cake mix, supermarket strawberries the size of golf balls with about as much flavor, packaged strawberry glaze that contains no strawberries, and whipped cream from a can. Needles to say, I made everything from scratch.

I got honorable mention.

To add injury to insult, I had brought a knife so cheesecake could be nearly sliced and served, but they got one of those disposable plastic knives and hacked it to pieces.

Never entered a baking contest again.

But hey, do I get post of the year?

Would you share or do I have to make cheesecake for everyone on S2?
I would post a video of me eating it.

BTW, thank you again for the cookies. Those were so delicious.

Downhill is my middle name.

What cookies? You never told me you got any God damned cookies. You know I love cookies. What goes better with an ice cold glass of milk?
