What would he reassess? If anything it would tell him the team is going all out to win, because Butler is objectively a much better player than CJ. Dame knows that. He’s loyal, not stupid.
If we traded CJ for a 1 year rental of Butler and the team knew it going into the deal, Im just thinking it Dame may decide to re-evaluate things? Hell, I could be 100% wrong.

For as much as Neil talks about culture, they should feel confident that Butler wouldn’t just be a rental. It doesn’t seem like he’s married to the idea of any specific team anyway.

I have an embarassing confession to make: I was happy when the Blazers drafted CJ. I thought he had a lot of Dame in him.

Sweet zombie jeebus on a jet ski did I get that wrong!

After this most recent game, C.J. is shooting 32.8% from the 3 point line.

He is shooting 25.4% for the month of December.

CJ is way overpaid. He is a 4 inch shorter Batum. He is terribly inconsistent. He needs to be traded.

CJ is struggling like never before. I think he needs to just refocus, and get back to concentrating on his mid range game. He should only shoot 3's when he's wide open. It seems like his court vision on passes has been clouded as well. He's in a funk. CJ is a quality player, but he needs to step his game up to help this team progress upward.

His off-ball game might actually be even more underwhelming than his on-ball game lately.

He plays better off ball. When he has the ball he thinks its a dribbling contest and likes to see how many guys he can go at in the paint

Sometimes it looks like he goes into this Harlem Globetrotters mode. I agree with the "off ball" comment. He needs to get back to nonstop movement into that mid range area where he is so lethal.

The problem is he literally seems to have forgotten/never learned how to score in any other way. Most times I feel like he'd rather take a contested 16 footer with two guys draped over him after a bunch of dribbles than simply catch it and shoot it or actually make a cut. It's like that is just super unnatural for him.

But off the ball hes shooting with an Evan Turner level of ineptitude.

Usually you guys are 3 years behind me, but in this case, you're 5! I posted his first 3 years that he sucked, then I gave up against you guys and shut up! He is no Lillard!

Is that the benchmark? If a player isn't Lillard, then he sucks? Sounds like a pretty unrealistic standard.

See I’m of the opinion that trading CJ for assets isnt a bad idea, but we’d be givig up someone who can win games for us on his own like tonight. If we were to trade him we’d have to get a piece back thats a reliable bucket getter when Dame or the rest of the team is having an off night. Unfortunately I dont think its really possible we could get real value for what CJ means for us unless we ended up getting an Oladipo/Sabonis type deal where its a guy in a bad situation with the potential to break out elsewhere.

Im telling ya, Dame would not like CJ traded just yet! But that shouldn't stop Neil if a real good player was available and let the chips fall where they may, right?

I just found an interesting stat on Basketball Reference. Last season, CJ was number 2 in the league in missed FGs for the entire season.

Note of reference, Dame was number 5. But he was also number 2 in the league in 3-Point FGAs.

Maybe it is what Dame and the team needs. Too much buddy buddy. Would it effect Dame in a good way? The team? I think so. It would pull the carpet out. There is such thing as too comfortable.

He only has 6 thirty-point games this season. I want to see him put up 30 against a top 5 team that's healthy. And I want to see him do it consistently.

Only 6? How many secondary scorers on a team (excluding GS) score more? How many players score 30+ per game consistently, especially as a secondary scorer?

Good point. I imagine there are some, but not many.

What is your take on CJ's performance this year?
