agree, he has IMO one relatively slim chance this yr with the spurs and I assume he will sign a 4 yr deal - but then again he has other options as far as contract years goI don't think he is worried about his legacy at this point but previous comments would lead me to believe he kinda cares. Saying he wanted to be the best Blazer ever. Telling Clyde he is coming for his records. I get it, it's San Antonio but I think he only has one good year there to win a title. Duncan is the greatest pf of all time but anything could happen at 40. With the way it is in the West and after being eliminated in the first round, I don't think the Spurs could repeat this year. But it's the Spurs
If tomorrow night LA narrows it down to a top 3 that doesn't include the Blazers and does include the Suns (or Rockets? They reportedly impressed him), then it would be in their best interest to be open to a sign and trade. You can at least get something back.
But from the rumors it seems like the only Spurs and Suns impressed him enough to make the next "round." I don't see the Knicks impressing him tomorrow, so at this point I'm assuming we'll make that cut.
I don't even know why this whole thing has bothered me as much as it has. Probably because that team for the last two years was my favorite Blazer team. Now it's all gone and the future is uncertain. Marc Gasol handled it as expected and I wish Wes never got injured so Lamarcus would be handling it the same way but things happen, maybe it's for the better, I don't know. LA was our star man. The L train. It's gonna sting good next season if I am assuming right.I hear ya man, been online most of the day staying close to this stuff, I think you said it all very well, I am getting to the point where I really don't care anymore if he stays or goes, the way he is handling this has at least "for now" soured me on him. I love the way Marc Gasol handled his situation with Memphis - class act there.

You get that. I get that. Does LaMarcus get that? Does he care? Hard to say but it's up to Olshey to sell that point. If LaMarcus is worried about his legacy, where do you think him winning a title will earn him more love?
In San Antonio, where they've won 5 already, or in Portland where we STILL shower players from the 77 team with love?
It would suck to go through this all again but with that said, there might be better options next summer. It would have to be sign and trade at that time though I think with Dame's contract kicking in.I won't be surprised if LA signs back here with an opt-out next summer.
Personally, I think if LA is leaving, it's down to one team (San Antonio). And I think this is what's being said throughout to "sources". People then make the leap to San Antonio, rather than realizing it's meant to mean it's San Antonio or Portland. People assume there's no way he'd choose PDX over SA.
San Antonio made the deal with Atlanta to ship Splitter off. You would think they would have to be relatively confident that he is coming before making such a move.
I hope he stays. I think if Portland can somehow get a commitment from Monroe before he is done wining and dining with other teams., That will help. If Portland can lock those two up. I think they need to pay Wes whatever it takes. Henderson will be a great backup but that's all he is. Portland will fall short with him as their starter.

If that's the case then I would much rather him sign somewhere else. I can't do this emotional roller coaster ride againI won't be surprised if LA signs back here with an opt-out next summer.
I would gladly take Monroe and LA together. That is a beastly front court. Sorry to go the negative route but if that's what he wanted to he would be trying to help make it happen instead of meeting with other teams. Don't get why he would pass that up, sign a shorter contract just to see if it works but hey if he thinks it's win now in San Antonio, go for it. I don't think that Spurs team would win though. Yeah the starting 5 looks scary but that bench wont look as great and Manu has already been declining, Parkers injury issues, and ya never know with a 40 year old even though he is indeed, the best PF of all time.
I would assume that it would focus more teams to try and sign Monroe before we could get em. With the power players concentrating on Aldridge, Olshey got his foot in first to try and nab him. Also, I doubt Aminu would have been that easy but Dallas had hopes they could get LMAI would gladly take Monroe and LA together. That is a beastly front court. It's exactly that. I sit and have lurked on these forums for quite a while, not really participating but I had to get in on this one. If/when he signs to the Spurs, Blazer fans are gonna go ape shit. Burning jerseys type of ape shit. I know some fans wont think of it that way and think he made the right decision but as a hardcore fan, one that's been here since a kid watching the jailblazers to watching Roys career end and a bust in Greg Oden, we really don't deserve this. This really is an emotional rollercoaster as corny as that sounds but people don't understand. Basketball is really all we got over here. I worry about what this final roster will look like. The uncertainty drives me crazy. I believe in Neil and Paul but I gotta see it man, an Aminu deal isn't gonna do it for me. You land Greg Monroe, I will believe more.If that's the case then I would much rather him sign somewhere else. I can't do this emotional roller coaster ride again

http://deadspin.com/the-lakers-really-boned-themselves-out-of-lamarcus-aldr-1715251663My favorite breakdown of the Lakers meeting with Lamarcus

I, for one, wouldn't burn my Jerseys if he went to the Spurs. That would mean he wants to win now. He's had 9 years without mostly success in Portland. That would be tough for any man. Remember Dame just got here, so he didn't go through the Lottery, then injuries to Oden and Roy, then getting bounced many times. It's exactly that. I keep hoping that one dream is alive. Boom Monroe and LA, right back in it. The realistic side of me just says, ehhh probably not. I'm doom and gloom as fuck though right now with everything surrounding this team though so that probably affects my thinking, lol
From what I read from a few recent tweets, that deal is not guaranteed to happen. Dunno if that's true, but the media dude made it sound like it wasn't certain to happen.
Based on how much you all bitch about phoenix, you all sound like a bunch of whiny girls. You know nothing about Phoenix if you honestly think there is nothing to do there, and coming from a place like Portland, you guys have no room to talk. There us so much more to do in Phoenix than there is in Portland. I know because I have actually lived in both places. It doesnt matter anyways. He lives in Los Angeles during the off season. I think it will come down to the Spurs, the Suns, and the Blazers. But if you all are saying you will lose your love for him even if he comes back, that is just crap. He should leave if that's how you feel.
This is the most whining I've read here all day..I'm glad you like Phoenix.
