I read Woj's post that Aldridge is fond of Olshey ... which makes the reasons he would want to leave Portland all the more obscure.

1. Playoff-caliber team with room to get better and an owner that spends money. Check.

2. Another star player. Check.

3. You like the GM. Check.

4. The coach uses a system that suits you. Check.

5. More money and security than any other team. Check.

If he gets along with the GM and presumably the coach, about the only reason that makes sense to me that would make him want to leave is just being uncomfortable with the city or being more comfortable with another area. That's possible, I guess. I've never been to Portland to know. But LaMarcus always seemed mellow and low-key, and that's always the impress I got of Portland.

If he does go elsewhere, I would love to know the real reason behind it. I just think Portland seems to have a lot of cards to play to try to keep him.

They need to move ~4-5 million in salary.

Which they picked up when they picked up Kaman's option.

This tells me they already have a trade lined up for Kaman should LMA+Monroe commit.
Yup. Exactly what I had in mind.

Just FYI, Kaman is a Michigan guy. Their announcer was gushing about Kaman when we played the Pistons this year (I know, prolly irrelevant, but something to keep in mind)

A guy who is is quite the capologist says Portland CAN get Aldridge AND Monroe if they both agree. He says that Neil would have had this planned out and had a limit on what he would sign Aminu to that would still allow both players.

Could Neil possibly pull this off?

If we get Monroe and Aldridge, Monroe will have to be a S&T
Again, this is why I question the timing of eating up money on Kaman. Olshey doesn't do anything without a reason and a plan. There is no way Olshey doesn't have a strategy to make this work.

Now my hopes are up again. Great. I already accepted it and was ready to move on. Cruel world

Actually, it would be in keeping with team history if keeping Kaman wound up screwing us.

I'd love to have been a fly on the wall for that meeting.

I honestly think Kobe probably went on about winning and being the #2 to him, Kupchak probably smiled and nodded, Worthy gave a firm handshake and Byron Scott picked his own ass in the corner.
