The OFFiCIAL NBA Draft Lottery Thread- May 21st, 2013

He fits what we need from a center other than the injury part.

I think Cleveland will try to move him to clear up cap space and have a ton of money for Lebron.

If the price is small, I dont think its a bad idea. All depends on his health.

Also another point on this, if they did want to save money for next summer then they will just not pick up his contract after next year instead of trading him for a player. If they choose Noel they certainly should not rush him next year. They need Varejao for another year.

So: who do they take? Cleveland taking Noel would be...stupid. He weighs less than Dion Waiters - he can't be a center. Porter would make sense. Or Len.
Who do Washington take? They have Beal, so they don't need McLemore. Actually, they could do with Porter as well. Bennett, perhaps?
Detroit could ALSO use Porter! They may be forced to take McLemore or even Oladipo, even though Brandon Knight isn't really a point (and neither is Stuckey).
Charlotte should take Oladipo, and probably will, but he's a bit similar to MKG, isn't he? Maybe they take Len or Noel. Actually Bennett probably makes a lot of sense here.

Noel to Cleveland, Burke to Orlando, Porter to Washington, McLemore to Charlotte.

Next years draft is loaded......can't wait til we have a top 3 pick next season!

Tyrus Thomas? ok

Look at Tyrus Thomas just a few years ago at the age of 23

10pts/7rebs/1.5blk in 21min a game. He's a good talent that is just an idiot.

Nerlens Noel is a similar talent.

You've obviously let it go

lmao

I could not care less if RR7 or anyone else thinks it's the worst comparison ever made, so I guess you could say I've "let it go"

You're just scared he'll say mine is better!

Everything depends on how he returns from this injury.

His defensive awareness and timing is great. IMO, if 100% his floor is Theo Ratliff.

Wrong.

You obviously overrate Noel

I agree. Noel is so overhyped. I can think of about 10-15 players from this draft that I think will have better careers. Someone is going to make a huge mistake.

Btw, I wouldn't touch him with a top pick. His injury was gruesome. The risk of being injury prone, especially for this franchise, is too big.

The hype for Noel, and Shabazz for that matter, seem to be effected by how highly rated they were coming out of high school. It seems to cary over. Noel may be end up being great but he really has not done much to deserve being #1. But has we have discussed this draft is missing star power at the top.

Dude was averaging 4.4 blocks! He's an elite defender that can immediately anchor your defense. That's well worth the #1 pick.

I've seen much bigger guys try to post on Anthony Davis to be swatted because he's got length, smarts and timing. Noel is the same.

Well then I have to agree with the Tyrus Thomas comments. He got drafted high because he was blocking every thing in sight during the tournament. But the rest of his game was not yet developed. I assume Noel is much better than
Thomas, but has he really proved it yet?

This would be the year I'd trade out of the top 5!

Just for the record

In Tryus' 1 and only season at LSU, he averaged 12pts/9reb/3.1 blk per game while averaging 26 minutes per game.

Noel averaged 10.5/9.5/4.4 in 32min per game

Let's not act like Tyrus Thomas wasn't a highly ranked prospect at one point.

The guy's knee EXPLODED on national tv. I'd stay clear of him.

Funny thing is that the assumption seems to be that Gobert will be pushed around at the next level, but Noel won't. Gobert is 32 lbs. heavier than Noel.

If we are purely going off of blocks, let's get Jeff Whithey.

WAS was really high on Len through the season...I don't know that he's a) good enough to go #3 or b) his injury/surgery soured him a bit. Some people were saying they'd take him over Noel.

Oladipo and MKG on the floor at the same time would be--pretty epic defensively.

Someone will be there at 10, especially with Stevens and Saric creeping into the top 10.

Cavs are just stockpiling these high draft picks.

Kyrie #1
Waiters #3
Thompson #4
and now another #1

All within 3 years. Pretty pathetic that they still suck if you ask me.
