Is the sound quality shitty for anyone else? Sounds like it's skipping or something.

I always feel weird around Olympic time. I actually don't give a fuck about 'em. Sorry, but all these sports are boring as shit. I was working in Athens and turned down China and London just because of other work conflicts. Why would I want to watch gymnastics and volleyball? Just don't get it. And don't get me started on people talking about how amazing the opening ceremonies were...... they were so amazing...... blah blah. I'll watch the hoops and that's about it FAMS!

Boring as shit? Don't you cover golf?

Golf is the most boring sport to watch ever, so I agree with you on that comment.

I don't understand how some people can't enjoy watching the olympics. You get to watch the best athletes in the world compete against each other. Watching Usain Bolt kill in Beijing, Michael Phelps winning his nail biter Gold in Beijing, and the Shawn Johnson - Nastia Liukin battles were epic.

Pretty amazing to see Sir Paul get choked up at the beginning of "Hey Jude", overwhelmed by the moment. I also had the sad thought that if there had ever been a moment for a Beatles reunion, this would have been it. However, thanks to Mark David Chapman and cancer, it's no longer possible.

I respect the athletes, just don't enjoy watching them. I have never watched the Phelps guy swim. Just don't think what he's doing that big of a deal.

You respect what the guys do in the NBA, but there are no refs to coddle Michael Phelps. It's just him against a few others who were lucky enough to make it to the Olympics. It's just him against time for world records. He trains for four years for just a handful of races. And then it's over. Done for another four years. And he doesn't get paid a dime for doing it. The only chance for compensation is through endorsements, but do you think every Olympian gets money like Phelps from Wheaties? Most of them do it for the love of the event, and the chance at a gold medal.

How anyone could not support that, I have no idea.

Not to put words in HCP's mouth, but I think he echoes the general American sentiment. During the Olympics, we'll get involved in sports that we don't usually place an emphasis on.

Some female USA sprinter wins Gold? Awesome! Go USA! Then the next day we've forgotten about her.

It's not an indictment of their abilities but rather a truism existing in US culture.

We care about team sports. Individual sports like swimming or track & field only have a place with US culture during the Olympics.

I like you. You post everything I'm thinking but in a better way.

@darrenrovell: Par for the Olympic course RT @JulietMacur Really sad to see the lower bowl of the gymnastics arena half empty.

@darrenrovell: The @NBCOlympics feed begins the events w/298K followers. Will be interesting where it is when games finish. Tweeting air rifle won’t help.

Yeah, Americans love Rugby, Cricket, Field Hockey et al and don't give a shit about Tennis Players or Nascar drivers. I blame it on the socialism ingrained deeply in the American psyche.

I think people watch them "because they are supposed to". Its like going to watch a movie you know that sucks, but you "have to go to the movies" so you just go.

:MARIS61:

I like them because of the drama. They come along once every 4 years and for many athletes it's the goal of a life time and to win is the crowning achievement of their lives.

@El Prez

How do you feel about Trampoline and people that pronounce the N in Badminton?

Anyone know where to catch the French/USA basketball game? Are they just going to tape delay it?

Batum is doing his "stand in the corner and wait for the kickout pass" routine in this game. He needs to get more involved... Team USA's defense is horrible so far.

Yeah, I hope we don't get "the Batum that plays for France." Batman has been the Invisible Man.

I have a feeling the majority of players playing against Team USA will become invisible men.

I'd expect the Gasol's and Ginobili/Scola to play very well against team USA.

Gasols will because if there size. I don't expect ginobili to do much of anything vs the USA

I have discovered that I like women's beach volleyball.
