Yeah what a waste of a season if we only get to play in 82 games ... however, playing in 86 would make all the difference in the world.

I just saw the Blazers' new car for this race ... I'm a little worried.

grizz are getting in. our only hope is a melo trade.

So you would trade Denver assets to get a 3 month rental in an attempt to get a low seed and likely quick exit from the playoffs and weaken the franchise even more for the coming years than it already is?

Awesome.

im saying our only hope to make the playoffs is melo being dealt.

i will say it again... if denver deals. i think we get in.

grizz 7

blazers 8

with GS right on our ass

I'll start to care about daily wins and losses at the end of March.

If we don't win games now, then it may not matter at the end of March. Start caring now!

Blazers with 1.5 game separation. Go Blazers!

5. New Orleans 11.5
6. Utah 12.5
7. Denver 13.0
8. Portland 15.0
9. Memphis 16.5
10. Phoenix 17.5
11. Houston 18.5

Talk about a playoff race. We are as close to 6 as we are 10.

Roy and Camby coming back, I like our chances . . . at 5th. :D

8. Blazers 28-24
9. Grizzliess 27-26
10. Suns 24-25
11. Rockets 25-28
12. Warriors 22-28

EDIT through February 7th

6 days later:

5. New Orleans 33-23
6. Utah 31-24
7. Denver 31-24
8. Portland 30-24

9. Memphis 30-26
10. Phoenix 26-26
11. Houston 25-30
12. Golden State 24-29

It was a good week for us.

Same record as the Blazers had at this point last season, which is amazing given all of the injuries.

Now all they have to do is finish with a 20-8 stretch run to equal last season's win total. Should be a piece of cake...right?

Predicted wins: Instead of last night's .1 and .1 difference, it's now a .3 and .3 difference.

44.7 Portland
44.4 Memphis
44.1 Utah

Like I said elsewhere, Utah is out of here. Their wins depended on "Effort" Sloan even more than ours on our coach. Tyrone Corbin is more than 1.3 wins (out of 28 games remaining) worse than Sloan. The moment Sloan quit, we (and Memphis) made the playoffs.

We should start a pool for when Camby and Roy actually return.

Despite the chatter, I'm expecting Roy to be out at least until after the trade deadline. With Camby, I have no clue what to think.

I look at the grit and determination of this team and can't help but think what this team could have been with health.

From here on out, I no longer will refer to the Thunder as the Zombie Sonics. The term "Zombie" shall hereafter only refer to our Blazers, for we cannot be killed.

Current standings:

5 NOH 33 23
6 DEN 31 24
7 UTA 31 24
8 POR 30 24
9 MEM 30 26

Next three days' games, with my predicted winners are in bold:
2/14--POR @ MIN, DEN @ HOU
2/15--PHI @ MEM, UTA @ PHX, NOH @ GSW
2/16--DEN @ MIL, GSW @ UTA, NOH @ POR

If things go my way, we would be 32-24 and holding the 5 spot going into the all-star break.

My guess right now is that Utah drops out of the playoffs and Denver goes about .500 until the trade deadline. Then depending on if a trade is made, they will either start losing like mad, or know that they have Carmello until end of year and continue .500 ball to end of year.

That's 4 games with the worse team (record wise) winning. I don't see it happening, but it would be awesome if it does.

Golden State plays much better at home than on the road, and in fact last night knocked off OKC, so I can see that one. Phoenix has been on a win streak the last few games, although I am not sure if they played yesterday. Denver is 9 and 17 on the road. Portland has a solid home record, and Chris Paul is banged up.

You're comparing overall record; instead compare visiting-teams' road record vs. home-teams' home record. In all these cases, I've picked the home team to win, and their respective home & away records support that pick.

If Hornets lose tonight and we win tomorrow, we move into 5th place.

Go Blazers!

:notworthy: Holy shit, Platypus. This is seriously happening right now.

Yeah, I got the first two days right. But the key game is tonight. If we can take out the Hornets, then I will accept your praise.
