Kareem was a shell of himself at that age, yes he had the effective sky hook but he didnt have this multidimensional effect on the game Timmy has.

As soon as Kareem retired, the Lakers' championships ended. Fans now looking at stats think he was all about offense and sky hooks, but his inside defense was the engine of the 1980s Lakers even in his old age (while the media hung on the talkative Magic, the faux core of the team).

It's why I think Stotts isn't the coach for this team to take to the next level. I like Stotts as a person, seems like a really good dude. But as a coach he's not championship level, IMO. (And yes, I know he won one as an assistant with Dallas). But as a HEAD coach, he's not at that level.
