Can you advise what, if anything, is wrong with that
it's a great move if you need a fall guy when something important gets mired in the muck. He's also sort of stated his distrust for our intelligence agency so there's that

Seems to me that daily, mostly repetitive briefings are muck in which important things can be mired. By cutting out the dross, he can focus on the wheat. If he neglects something important, this policy gives him less of an excuse, not more of one.

I'll just say I'm glad the commander of the 7th fleet didn't feel this way when I brought his intel to him every morning. To follow your logic about Donald would also mean assuming he's going to do something more important with that time...they can brief Pence and Pence briefs Trump or the can brief them both one time.....I don't see it saving time and I think it's an important part of the job he was elected to do

That nothing has changed is important information. At some point that may require altering a response, because nothing is changing. That said, being President is hard work. Saying that you don't want to listen to the briefings makes it seems like you don't want to do the hard job that is being President. Or *gasp* having low energy. Now, nothing bad might become of this system where Trump barely listens to intelligence briefings, but why even have the appearance of not taking the job seriously or not being willing to do the hard work that being President requires?

Again, it's all people's interpretation. You interpret it as, "Saying that you don't want to listen to the briefings makes it seems like you don't want to do the hard job that is being President." I interpret it as, "By not receiving redundant information, he can focus on things that actually require more immediate attention."

I generally prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt. Others prefer to pre-judge. To each their own.

I interpret it as, "By not receiving redundant information, he can focus on things that actually require more immediate attention like tweeting."

Edit: Your thoughts have some value. I'm just saying that it gives the impression that he doesn't really want to do the job, whether that perception or impression is accurate. Presidents before him have been up to this task. It's just silly to me to criticize others for being *low energy* when he doesn't want to do certain parts of the job because he thinks they are too technical, too boring, too nuanced, or perceives them as a waste of his time. Instead, he wants to do his "Thank You tour" because that's so important... Dude, election's over. Talk about a waste of time.

I'll wait to see how it works out (what choice do I have?) but I'm not sure it has been firmly established that the daily briefings are redundant. Trump says they are, but one can imagine a detailed discourse one day on Kurdish fighters in Syria, and the next day a detailed discourse on Assad's military supply chain, and Trump hearing: "Syria", "Syria again". Boring!

nice try....he said he's a smart guy and doesn't need to take them...but I don't think he's as smart as you do....you got that right...I'm not his advisor

It's not what you said, but whatever.

You said he's too smart to take the briefings.

He said he's a smart guy, doesn't need to take briefings that don't change from day to day.

Others prefer to pre-judge
I don't think that's fair...book by cover...Trump made this bed of doubt verbally for a lot of folks...I don't have to guess when he tweets and says some of the things he does publicly...big difference between creating a false image of the guy....he has to EARN my respect and if he does...great...I'm still waiting

And yet the Bush administration ignored daily warnings that an Al Qaeda attack was imminent.

Sometimes when they're repeating stuff maybe they're repeating it for a reason. Like a 9/11 type reason.

You're helping make my point. The briefings aren't important if they don't change from day to day, what he does about them is.

The so called "hard job" of being President isn't sitting there, it is actually doing things or even deciding not to do things.

Nah, he was randomly talking shit about me the other day, I thought I'd give him a little love back.
I was? If you mean the part in the Boring thread it wasn't directed at you.

I could rant away but my new MO is to say something mean to someone and then ignore their reply, being passive aggressive on purpose. Is that aggressive passive aggressiveness? Whatever.

Oh wait, the septic tank thing? Whatever it is you're speaking of I'm just getting too old to keep track.

I've got a pretty scary medical test to go through on the 5th of January so hopefully I'll make it that far.

Thanks for making me more nervous about it.

Don't forget, we're meeting up for beers the next time I go to Vegas.

You'll have to come get me, I'll never pay to park on the strip. NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last two trips we spent a couple of days on the strip, a couple of days downtown and then a couple of days at Red Rock. We'll figure out something that works for you.

With Obama making his showing and instituting sanctions/reactions, I'll bet Trump contacted Putin to quench the fire and regain his suck up status with Putin. These next four years are going to require plenty of anti acid meds for all of us.

LOL

Obama got punked by Putin, one last time, on his way out. Someone took the high road.

Putin: Russia won't expel US diplomats

'Classic Putin'

Putin's "extraordinary" move essentially sidelines the Obama administration while it is still in office, said CNN's former Moscow bureau chief and Russia analyst Jill Dougherty.

By declining to match the move made by Washington with tit-for-tat measures, as a Russian president normally would do, Putin is really issuing "an enormous insult" to Obama, she said.

Putin's move also represents a huge challenge to Trump, Dougherty said, because he will come into office "having Vladimir Putin essentially reach across the divide and say 'let's do this together, let's just ignore all of this and go forward'."

Dougherty added, "It's an amazing move and it's classic Putin, I would have to say -- he's a master of doing things that are unexpected, and this is truly unexpected."
He also invited the children of US diplomats to enjoy the new years festivities at the Kremlin.

I am not sure what is up with the dip-shit democrats wanting to go to war with Russia. That is literally the LAST thing that anyone should ever want. And to continue to poke the bear and fuck around with sanctions and other bullshit is just dangerous. Governments hack each other all the time, all day long, 365. Hell even our allies are hacking us, it's the nature of the beast. But to continue to harvest resentment towards Russia from our people and hop everyone up on aggression tactics is a one way ticket to confrontation. Let's not even get started on the Israel situation.

In just over a week Obama makes moves to fuck with Russia and flip off Israel. Thank god Trump is taking over soon and these democratic idiots with their fucked up mindset of making enemies out of everyone including their own people can fuck off.

Another diplomatic failure by the Nobel Peace Prize winner.

The Reset Button with Russia.

Good when Obama does it, the horror when Trump is going to succeed at it.
