That was me, but I said it in jest. I was just repeating what hpc said about baseball. Both are sports and both takes that the aren't are terrible.
I don’t know that I said baseball isn’t a sport, but I was in there badmouthing baseball too, so
I get it. FWIW I enjoyed paying attention to baseball more with the mariners postseason.

The worst was back in the medieval times when you had to sit and watch the entire ESPN ticker go through all the MLB scores and stats in order to see the NBA scoreboard, which would last longer than an MLB pitch; or roughly 30 minutes.

Y’all remember that? What a horrible existence it was back then.

This is my argument in favor of soccer over baseball. In baseball there’s just so much time spent crotch itching and spitting. At least in soccer they are actually playing the whole time.

Yeah I was putting shots across the bow at @THE HCP also. Just messing with him.
He was raging pretty hard on us baseball guys.

Maybe I just love itching my crotch and spitting? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In all seriousness, I think a lot of it depends on influence when we're young. I don't enjoy cardio so when I saw kids just running, all the damn running, I knew that soccer wasn't for me. Alternatively, I know baseball way more in depth and can watch the game and see things that a novice fans probably doesn't.

To each their own, but this thread should obviously be in the OT forum, because soccer is stupid!

Baseball is NOT a sport FAMS. HA!

Funny story from this past road trip. As many know, Josh Hart is a HUGE soccer fan.
My FAMS joined me our in NYC for thanksgiving.... in the elevator at the hotel, door opens on the way down to the lobby. Hart walks in....head BURRIED in his phone streaming a world cup game. He looks up, says hi and introduces himself to my wife and daughter and then starts cracking up because my daughter was streaming the same game on HER phone. So he hangs in the lobby with us for 2 minutes watching the stream and talking soccer with my daughter. QUALITY DUDE!

Today is the day

11 am USA Vs Iran

It is win or go home for the USA. Iran will be playing for a draw with the hopes that whales lose or draw to England. USA will have a tough task ahead of them, as this is an Iran team which has been successful at keeping their opponents scoreless internationally.

NED just won group A

They will be the first round matchup for the runner up from our group.

Watching a handful of grown men laying on the ground crying after defeat and elimination really goes to show you how much this event means for the Athletes.

So from what I'm reading the US needs to get a goal in this game. If they can score then Iran is not really known to be a great scoring team. The US will have a chance if they can get a lead.

Glad to hear that USA coach is telling the team the same thing I was shouting at the screen last game: "Get the damn ball in front of the other team's goal!" I hate all the cute little passes back and forth out on the periphery.

Nice that they can get through group play without allowing a non-penalty goal...speaks well of their defense. But they're going to need to be better than that to advance past Netherlands in the knockout rounds.

USA play like they did in the last 15 mins or so, they're gonna get destroyed in the first round. Lucky to get through.

I gave it a shot. Not much of a soccer fan. I find it very nerve-wracking. Maybe if they had a star that I could get excited about. Do they? I watched the last 30 minutes and rarely saw the U.S. on offense.

Hopefully Pulisic can play in the next game. Nice to move on to the Knock out round.

they were aggressive in the first half and tried to just play defense after scoring the goal. from what i see, they desperately need a striker.

don't really have much of a shot to advance i think, especially against a strong team like the netherlands.

It's as if they are teaching the kids these days to make nice short passes, trap the ball, and make sure to share the ball, don't be selfish. You need a guy who has only one thing on his mind; put the ball in the goal, and he has the extreme skill and desire to do it.
