The only way the Blazers get Gortat is if they trade Leonard so here's an idea..

It's including Nolan Smith that will make the Suns jump at doing that trade.

Trading Leonard now would be a HUGE mistake. Way too high a ceiling on that kid to give up on him after half a season.

the suns love saving money so they might think about it...

Trading Leonard now isn't a mistake, it would be a risk and there's a difference.

The age difference is huge between Leonard/Gortat.

On par with the Oneal/Davis deal.

Another great thread started by BGD.

I don't think the trade idea is that crazy. I don't think I old do it, but its close.

Question is do we think Leonard in his prime is at least Gortat? I would like to be a homer and say yes but it is definitely debatable. Gortat did 15 and a half and 10 last year. He is down to 11 and a half and 9 this year though. I think Leonard could put up this year's numbers easy in time but maybe not last year's numbers. Age is the big issue. Gortat could retire in 5 years for all we know.

Another question: Do we think Leonard becomes as good as Gortat while Aldridge is still in his prime? I like Leonard, but I see a lot of development that needs to happen. I think Gortat is a good starting center right now, and he's only a year older than Aldridge. I would very seriously consider this trade. Having Brown off the bench might be nice too.

I'm wondering why they would go for this. Is Phoenix looking to blow it all up?
