The optimism (this season) about the Blazers is ludicrous

Seeing the word playoffs in a few articles/threads about this years roster is a bad joke. Ive seen some here trash the lakers bench! The blazers bench wouldn't start in d-league. I do feel they have nice pieces (love lillard) but c'mon fellas this isn't even a 25 win roster no less a playoff team. I feel like the media is trying to hype the fans to sell tickets and preying on the gullible ones.

As is now this is a top 5 lotto pick which we need. Let's try to be realistic here. Hopefully they exceed expectations but they would have to be injury free and have a hidden star on bench who emerges.

right on, I am looking forward to more entertaining Bball as opposed to Nate boring ball. I do not expect playoffs at all, just want to see the guys improve as the season progresses, especially Lillard and maybe Meyers later in the year, it's going to take a while folks.

We're certainly not going to make the playoffs, but I think our bench isn't too terrible. I actually think our bench could take the Lakers' bench. The reason most people trash it is because they don't know anything about Claver and Freeland.

I think our bench has the potential to be a really good defensive "bench mob" like Sacramento had back in the day. But we can't afford to lose ALL our guards. (Things'll be better when we trade for Varejao...)

I'm hoping for the best but I'm realistic about this roster.

Developing future core players is key this season.

We're definitely going to be a doormat.

Hopefully it'll 'pay off' and we'll be in position to land 'Bazz or Zeller next summer.

This year will be eerily similar to the 2005 or 2006 season.

From what I have read everyone does seem to be realistic about this year. Maybe a few fans are "hopeful" that if this. that , and the other thing can occur....just maybe we can slide into the 8th spot. But the vast majority of Blazer fans are predicting right where the experts are guessing. And by experts I mean Vegas.

The decider will be Stotts, and whether the season

1. is wasted trying to win games playing the extremely weak veterans we have (= no playoffs and no improvement)

or...

2. our more talented draft picks are allowed to start and play deep minutes despite their learning curve (could make the playoffs and might even be very good by then)

Nate religiously followed #1, and we saw where it got us. Is Stotts a difference? So far there is no indication that he is.
