Notice The Personal Insults have to stop!

I get pretty upset sometimes( i.e. during the playoffs) and say things I don't mean. I apologize. I do argue quite a bit. Its fun. But, I have a healthy respect for my fellow members. Even the ones I don't agree with very often. In fact some of them are the most fun to argue with. But, its done in good jest. For the most part.

I will say that this thread has been a giant fail. One of the pages from the @SlyPokerDog book of moderation is that when someone is pissing the forum off do something that gets everyone pissed at me. I really thought the microbanning thing would rile you all up.

Or maybe you guys are also just tired of the personal insults.

Huge difference between external and internal trolls though.
Externals are just doing a fly by for a few and know they will be gone soon regardless.
Internal trolls are here to stay because they too are Blazer fans.

True story. Most of that seems to be political based and pessimists who love to share the doomed feelings of being a Blazer fan. Oh, such is martyrdom. Woe is me! Dastardly apocalypticism!

Now that is some subtle yet quality trolling.

I have and i do. I try to be very aware of my behavior.
I admit and apologize for my mistakes.

Please dont bring up some specifics in some other thread. I dont even recall the exact details other than i was more than likely pointing out yet another double standard.
I really dont wish to converse with you in the forum. Ive tried several times to take it to a mature, constructive and hopefully mutual understanding and got passive agressive responses in return.

I have been messaged by more than a couple people stating your behavior has never changed over many years and simply advised me to ignore you.
Im trying to remain disciplined without having to ignore you.

If you have something you want to say to me, say it in a pm so if we disagree and it derails, It is not an annoyance to the forum.
I have alot of respect for some people around here who have told me the bickering is ruining the forum. Im trying to do right by them.
Who knows. Maybe we will come to some sort of Understanding and things around here might change between you and i.

Thanks.

I have made an effort to be more respectful, but when someone comes at me in something that doesn't involve them it becomes hard to ignore. I also really don't need someone telling me that they perceive a double standard either as I will leave that to the mods. If you find my comments offensive then I suggest you take it up with the mods and let them decide and I will do in kind rather than create a messed up thread. I know I have started some as well but feel some posters take much of what I say out of context to help fuel an argument with me. I would prefer if you just ignore my posts rather than continue this but I have no interest in taking things to pm if it's just a continuation of what's been going on. There shouldn't be anything I need to say in a pm that I wouldn't say to someones face or in a post. If you choose to ignore me, that's completely your prerogative and it honestly wouldn't hurt my feelings if that's what you decide to do.

No hard feelings on my part.

Pm please. Gonna spare the forum this conversation. I guarantee they dont want to hear it.

Interesting how O-Live closed, some folks came here, and this place is starting to resemble that one.

I say ban the perpetrators @SlyPokerDog and let's all get back to whining about basketball.

There are at least 4 kinds of insults which this board should keep.
1. brutally true..needed to wake up some moron who is self-hypnotized
2. humorous...makes a point while showing a ridiculous paradox of the opponent's thinking
3. subtle...leaves it to the reader's imagination, not quite closing a circle of logic
4. comeback...I propose we award a monthly "HCP Trophy"

Like great art, a Nobel-winning insult can be interpreted in more than one way.

"Kjironman1's iron is malleable."

Instead of being an insult, Shakespearian art can simply be colorful suggestive description for its own sake.

Personally I'm a big fan of personal insults. I find it exhilarating to call people assholes or cocksuckers etc.

Exactly! You took the words right out of my mouth.

Instead of dumbing down the board, moderators should encourage us to increase all insults, subtle and artsy, by praising the best and asking everyone to amp it up. After the nuclear war and centuries of recovery, archaeologists will dig up these posts and display the best for posterity, so write with two meanings, stay alert, and write on your toes.

And we could neutralize each other......:smiley-ripley: or just piss all over the place :smiley-piss:

I was considering yesterday starting a thread very similar to this one, but focusing more on the sniping and backbiting that has suddenly made the forum so much more unpleasant. I could call people out, but y'all know who you are.

Fact is (as I intimated in another thread earlier), it takes two to tango. Another poster mentioned how sometimes it's "hard to ignore" when someone comes at you...I don't understand that. You all are adult enough to be able to not respond when someone's being an ass. You all are intelligent enough to know when a comment/response is only going to make a situation worse. And you all are capable of being respectful, even when the other guy isn't.

You don't have to escalate confrontations. You don't have to respond in kind when someone is behaving boorishly. You don't have to call people out on passive aggressive comments. Every time you do, you become part of the problem.

To paraphrase Gandhi, be the change you want to see in the forum.

Duly noted.

I.love.you.

Like others are saying, it’s not really the personal insults. It’s the bait stuff. I can name three or four posters who constantly try and bait me all the time and make passive aggressive comments but they don’t cross that line however you know they are trying to be little assholes. That stuff never gets penalized and they get away with it constantly because it’s a “gray area” but everybody else recognizes that these people are trying to get reactions or implying things that are insulting. That to me is the most frustrating thing about the forum. Specifically the OT section.

So, is there a indicator to show who has been micro-banned? It's not entertaining for the rest of us if we don't get to laugh at the banned poster.

You'd know if you went to the staff meetings.
