IS YOUR OWN!
Gut this team and send out Kidd and Carter for expiring contracts and any first rounders you can get. The best pick the Nets can obtain is their own by trading Kidd and Carter. Who cares if we can only get late first rounders- we can enjoy the satisfaction of turning our perennial 15th-17th pick into a top 5.
As long as Kidd and Carter are on the team, the Nets will always be stuck in limbo, never good enough to make a run but never bad enough to get a special player in the draft. Thorn was lucky as hell for having back to back Williamses drop into his lap, but the only way to fix the Nets is to blow it up and start with a blue chip prospect like Michael Beasly or Derrick Rose, either of which would get the fans excited again. In the meantime, there is no obstacle to developing Marcus and Sean and Boone- they will be forced to play big minutes by necessity, just like Krstic as a rookie. You have a potentially great team next year with Marcus, Jefferson, Williams, Boone, Krstic, and a top 5 pick, with cap room to sign a few veterans around them. Sounds just like the formula the Trailblazers have adopted.
