“Bringing an NFL team to Oregon would dramatically increase the footprint of this state, bring tax revenue, create jobs and create a multi-use venue that would increase tourism. Portland is the nation's largest metropolitan area that is served by only one of the Big Three Major League sports organizations,” the petition reads.

On its website, the group prominently shows Oakland Raiders fans and points out that the Raiders have reportedly hinted at moving.

It's a nice thought but there are so many hurdles in the way, maybe too many. I think the city will be used as a pawn to get Oakland a new stadium.

Portland used as a pawn? Based on what past experiences do you draw upon to make this assumption!?

It's happened elsewhere (Seattle says hello to the Kings).

I just can't see Portland with NFL before LA gets another team.

as a Broncos fan this would greatly conflict me.

We're being teased again.

I'm a Raiders fan, but it'd be weird to take that team from Oakland or even LA. Not as bad as taking an NHL team from a Canadian or rust belt city though.

It'd be sweet to have a large stadium in the metro area for concerts and other sporting events, and besides our NHL team will need a place to play for the Winter Classic.

Not gonna happen anytime soon. The Raiders would be the LAST team I'd want here. They'll go to LA if they move anywhere. If we did ever get a team, the Seahawks would still be my #1!

All of this is purely hypothetical. This group should take a look at the mlb2pdx group. They never really got off the ground.

But for the sake of the convo, where would an ideal location be?

Would the Pearl post office site be too small -- nearly 14 acres of land?

Fuck no. We have enough gang activity in Portland without bringing de reeeydeeehs up here...

If any team moves here (they wont) I will become a fan day one, even if its the raiders.

They would probably change their name, something like the platypuses (platopi?)

I don't see any way in hell Portland gets an NFL football team, ever.

There is no way that they could change the name. As a Raider fan, I'd buy 4 season tickets for the family. Sorry Ducks, but this would be right in my backyard.

Quickly looked at a few footprints of a few NFL stadiums and this site seems like it'd be a solid candidate.

The new LA stadium is being built on 15 acres.

Portland's leadership would never go for it. They need more bike paths. A joint venture by Tualatin and West Linn off of 205 would work for a stadium, as well as a new commercial area. It's a dead zone right now.

I say this every time, but get an Indian Tribe to fund it.

I like the NFL more, but a MLB team would be >>>>>>>>>>>>>

Imagine going to a game during the summer months

warm nights, beer, baseball tickets are relatively cheap compared to the NFL and NBA, relaxing environment

I want it so bad

Looking at the Lloyd Dist. masterplan, I think the P.O. site is perfect for many reasons - the area directly north of the RQ is being zoned as a future "parking district" directly across the broadway bridge from the site.

Btw, OKC is also interested.

Their metro is half the size of Portland.

That's insulting.
