Some old tourists made me miss a light because they were in the non-turning lane driving slow as fuck then changed to the left turn lane at the last minute, so I rolled down the window and asked "whatsup?"

the apologized though and said they were from out of town.

I held the door open for a family last night at Famous Dave's, then they took the last available table right away and I had to wait 15 minutes with the family to be seated.

It made me angry. I won't be holding doors open for families again. I will race them to the door to get my name in first.

God knew that's what your response would be. Hence, the outcome.

I don't care if the other person is ungrateful. I just like doing good things for people.

I remembered arguing with my dad about people taking advantage of him. He replied. I maybe burned by 90 people, but that 91th person givese enough blessings to make up for the burns.

I live by that daily

The only time I'm a little too aggressive and mean in real life is when I'm on my bike and people cut me off, especially the ones you can tell did it on purpose. When I feel it's on purpose, I usually try and catch up and bust off their mirrors or dent their doors with a good kick. Not often at all, but I have done it maybe 8 times total.

Huh? Seems to me every time I've done that in the past, the kindness has been reciprocated with a "go ahead".

That family has karma coming to them.

I'm also reminded of something that happened at Fred Meyer to me 3 years ago. I had groceries, went through the self-checkout, and got $40 cash back. When I got home, I realized that I had forgotten to take the cash, so I called the store. They said that the people after me had found it, and taken it to Customer Service, and they would have it for me.

Meanwhile, turns out the dad was "teaching" his son that you should let the store know when you find money, but you can take it then. I went back to the store, and probably passed the guy on my way in, but the Customer Service counter was so rattled by it they were going to call the police on the guy for theft. I said no biggie, the kid was going to have a hard enough life, and Freddie's gave me the $40, anyhow, since they had replayed the video and knew I hadn't taken the cash.

That was a pretty lame move on their part....that is, unless they were just dense and had no idea what just happened.

I am slowly starting to accept that not every good deed is going to end with the outcome I desire. Being a courteous driver pisses me off to no end. No matter how mad I get or how nice I am, people are going to drive idiotically. I asked a friend to go to the Heat game last season and he replied that it would be appreciated if he could get two tickets to take his girlfriend. Sold him a pair discounted and he had something come up at work. Instead of offering the tickets back to me, he sold them.

I do not believe in karma, but believe you reap what you sow.

Four driving decisions I made a long time ago that has worked wonders for me:

1) As much as possible, allow ample time to get from point A to point B.

2) Stay clear of folks in front of me (i.e. no tail-gating)

3) There are numskull and out-of-town drivers all over the place. Stay WELL clear of them!

3 - and most importantly) Understand that there are plenty of jerk drivers out there. As difficult as it might be, refuse to allow them get you angry. Bite the tongue, say a prayer, look the other way.....whatever.

Geez, work with me here, mags.

Oh sorry! Lol

I was going to a ducks game and in Eugene early in the morning at the ATM outside the student UO store, a woman walked away from the machine leaving her entire wallet that she just put her money in, on the ledge of the machine. I realized, grabbed it, started running after her yelling " hey mam, hey you left, hey, your wallet" but she started running away from me. I actually had to sprint to track her down and return her wallet. It turned out that a transient had accosted her at that spot a couple weeks earlier and she was freaked out, thinking I was chasing her to do harm. I mugged the bitch. Just kidding about mugging, but the rest of the story happened.

But guess what?! You did what you want others to do to you. You can only control yourself. What other people do on your kindness is on them. You did the right thing!

I am honored to know you

I would not go that far. I expected him to do what I thought was the right thing and he did not. His birthday was a couple of weeks ago and he invited me to his get together. Had it not been for him doing what he did, I would have went.

Oh there is no reason to do him a favor again. If someone takes advantage of you; just live and learn. Just don't let it stop you from doing something nice for someone else...

Okay here's mine... Happened about 20 years ago.

Before I start the story, I want to explain how much I was an avid collector of basketball cards. Some baseball cards too. I had Jordan, charles barkely, karl malone, drexler and many other 86 rookie cards. I had every shaq rookie card imaginable, some limited edition gold plated ones. I had a Nolan Ryan rookie and a 1980 tops magic, bird rookie. So many others to count, but the estimated value was 25k for my entire collection at the time.

Now I had this friend that just got kicked out of his house. He was a bad boy, but I considered him a friend. I took him in and allowed him to stay at my apartment.

Long story short. One day I came home and my friend left. I looked around and saw my 12 gauge missing and all my basketball cards were pulled out of their albums. The only cards left were my Portland trailblazer players. Everything else was missing.

I never saw the guy again. It was a very sad day because it took me over 10 years to collect them all. Every allowance was used to go to the baseball card shop after school.

This has happened a lot of times to me. My friends have burned me the most. If I ever see that guy again, I wouldn't even bring it up. Live and learn I always say.

That's pretty messed up for your friend to reap the resale value of the tix when you gave him a good deal.

I definitely know my fair share of people that would try to do the same thing as your friend. So rude.

You put more faith in people than I do.

Bright side though is that this was probably during the boom of sports cards. You could probably replace the stolen cards pretty cheap today.

I know he did not get the tickets with the intention of making a profit. I did not even ask him, but guess he probably hooked someone else up. I cannot say anything because I would look like George trying to get credit for the big salad.

True... My value on those cards were more about getting them myself. I didn't have much money back then, so I traded them for others and so on. I got really good at it. After that happened, I just gave up.

people will fuck you over every chance they get. always have to have your eyes on the prize, yo.

At work, you must "throw them under the bus, before they throw you under the bus". its bound to happen to all, even when you reach the top.

I did shows with a really shady guy, but he was always on top of ways to make money with cards. He had no conscience and would do just about anything to make a buck. My year of college I was able to make my own schedule when we figured out how to get the elite cards by buying just one pack. Remember that just the 1993 set was going for $2000 and had sold $1k worth of them in one weekend wholesale at the Chicago National. Seven years ago I put together all of the sets for under $1k and it was a lot of fun.

I walked away from my job five years ago November because of my lack of faith in humanity. I could have more money and it could happen anyway, but I have done everything in my power to keep them away from the dipshits and molesters.

This thread is psychopathic. Except for the card-stealing, I'm thinking, so what? A guy returned the $40 to the store, then took it? How? Tourists didn't know which way to turn? How terrible. A friend resold your tickets? Did he profit? Did he think he was saving you time to resell them? A family followed the waitress' instructions to a table. How would they know it was the last table? What a scene it would be if they got there, then refused to take it. "No no, let PapaG sit here!"

I did not understand the Fred Meyer story.

He said he apologized to the tourists that made him miss his light.

If someone holds a door for you, it should be expected that the person holding the door is not skipped. I see this many times where the line is fuzzy. If you know someone was there before you, do not jump up when they say who is next.

Those tickets were worth atleast $250 and I sold them to him for $100. He knew the value and it was his responsibility to ask what I wanted him to do with the tickets. Add to that the game was in January. The girl that he really needed the ticket for must not have meant much. Despite already having two marriages that failed, he marries a different girl in April. Part of me did not want to go to the birthday event due to the tickets. The human side of me did not want to go since it is rude to berate someone on their birthday regardless of how big of a jackass they are.

Yesterday I got into my car to go to work. while I was sitting there a guy walking his dog walked right past my driver's side door (while I'm in my driveway) to deposit his dog's shit in my trash-bin. I calmly got out of my car, asked him if he was brain damaged, and told him he could either retrieve his dog's shit or he could pick up his Chiclets instead. He looked at me like I was the crazy one ... but ultimately chose option A.

I feel like I have to ask: WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON PEOPLE?!?!?!

After most shows I give out crew t shirts from the band we are working with to all my crew, and it never fails there will always be a few people who are like "can I have one for my mom/sister/gf/wife/etc?...

I always say " if you care about them so much, give them yours"
