The race for Home Court Advantage (1 Viewer)

Minnesota unexpectedly lost to the Griz; I think they are out of home court race.

In key games tonight, FiveThirtyEight has POR as 1 point underdogs at NOP, SAS as 1 point underdogs at WAS and DEN as 10 point underdogs at TOR.

Time to defy the odds again. POR was 3 point underdogs in their last two road games (@LAC and @OKC) and won them both.

The team has currently won 6 stright road games. Let's keep that streak going!

If a home team is .500 or above they nearly always are considered the "favorite". A one point underdog is pretty much a draw. So let's draw in Pelican blood tonight!

Great scouts with an absolute shitty front office. Absolutely no drive to succeed in that franchise. I feel sorry for their fans. But honestly, do Broncos fans actually watch basketball?!

I'm really surprised how quickly they gave up on trying to make Nurk and Jokic work together. Jokic plays much more on the perimeter than a tradition center on offense, but offers zero rim protection on defense. I guess his slow foot speed makes it impossible for him to guard opposing stretch 4s, but you think they could have figured something out, even if it meant staggered substitution patterns.

So, they went out and got Paul Millsap, who in addition to being old, injured and outrageously expensive also doesn't appear to be a great fit next to Jokic.

And they still haven't addressed their PG issue. With Jokic playing point center, they don't need a great distributor running the point. Murray can score OK, but he can't guard opposing point guards. With their lack of rim protection, they really need a PG that can stop the ball at the point of attack. Murray would be much better suited as a 6th man scorer off the bench type of player.

I can't believe all the "experts" picked them to finish ahead of the Blazers this year. I pointed out these exact same issues prior to the start of the season. Nothing has changed. They are who I thought they were.

Hmm I went back and looked at Minn's final games. Dunno why I said 3-5 being that I had their schedule infront of me last night too.
Maybe I was just sleepy who knows.
Thanks for figuring out tiebreakers and such Craig.

Blazers have 45 wins. If they only win 5 more, that's 50 not 51. Also- Rockets will likely rest their stars by the time we play them. And even if they don't, I see us finally getting a win against them.

Hey buddy I understand counting isn't your thing but.
Pelicans, Grizz 2x, Clippers, Mavs & Nuggets is 6 games.
Try using your fingers next time.
Bye.

Thanks. I was just counting the red games. I didn't read your post correctly. Go Blazers.

If Clippers lose tonight, can we clinch playoffs tomorrow?
No. We would clinch a tie with LAC and DEN at the very worst. If the Clippers lose, we'd simply need two more wins.

We need to take care of business and win these next 4. They are our four easiest remaining games and winning all four would get us to 50-28, with four games left and a worst case 50-32 final record.

Everyone behind us, except OKC, already has 32 losses. OKC has 31 losses and plays @SAS on Thursday. They also have games @NOP and @HOU, as well as hosting GSW in between. By then, GSW will have both Durant, Green and possibly Thompson back and may want to start tuning up for the playoffs. Plus we own the tie braked against OKC.

No way can all of OKC, SAS, NOP and UTA win out. UTA has the easiest remaining schedule, but they still play BOS, GSW and @POR. The others all play each other and someone has to lose those head to head matchups.

Of course if we win these next four and beat DEN on APR-9, it won't matter. That would get us to 51-31 worst case and would clinch the 3rd seed for us (if we haven't already clinched it by then).

I want to clinch by April 7th.

Yep. We should clinch 3rd seed at Dallas on Tuesday.
Yup.. those 8 games should happen exactly as we want them to. Right.

Didn't you say it's gonna come down to the last day of the season? So which statement was you talking out of your ass?

With 2 weeks remaining, everything is still up in the air. I think the Blazers can lock up the 3 seed before the final game, if they're able to win their next 3, and then just 1 more road game. Looking like Pels or Wolves in the 6 seed, I think.

The Clippers have remained surprisingly relevant through their incredibly tough road stretch, and with 5 of their final 7 at home, they still have a shot at the 8 seed. The Nuggets, however, I'd argue are just about out of it.

At Denver could be tough, altitude at the end of 4-game road trip, could see fatigue. I see SA game as winnable. I would not rule out Houston, they played nose to nose and may want a statement game; also with #1 seed locked Houston may be resting players.

Very true. I hesitated projecting that as a win initially, but the way the Nugs have been playing lately, I'm hoping for the best on that one.
