He should know better because of the year we played Memphis as a 4th seeded divisional winner without home court advantage.
Grizzlies had better record. Team with better record gets HCA. We have had home court advantage ONCE in last 18 years: 2009 first round.Wait how could we not have home court advantage if we were 4th place and were division champions? Tiebreakers?

Nope, it went to the team with the best rebooted, while winning the division guarunteed a top 4 seed regardless of record.Wait how could we not have home court advantage if we were 4th place and were division champions? Tiebreakers?
No we were actually 6th place that year but got "4 seed" because we were division winner. It really pissed off Doc Rivers who ended up having to face Spurs in first round because of it. Needless to say, he beat the Spurs but then choked on Rockets. So then Blazers werent really 4th place

Because the still have a top 4 seed to division winners but no longer gave HCA to the top 4 seeds. HCA went to whoever had the better record.Im still confused. If it was during the time winning the division got the top 4 seeds and we won the division and had 4th how did memphis get HCA.
Because the team with best record gets HCA. Always. Even that one year where the top THREE seeds were the division winners. That year, Denver was the three seed and the Clippers were the 6 seed but the Clippers got HCA.Im still confused. Matchups as of now:
(1) Rockets vs. (8) Pelicans
(2) Warriors vs. (7) Wolves
(3) Blazers vs. (6) Thunder
(4) Jazz vs. (5) Spurs
I don’t mean their current form, quite the opposite actually. They are streaky, can beat anyone on their day and lose to anyone when things don’t go their way. I would rather play a team that is predictable.
I think it's because Utah can win the tiebreaker against us. We're 1-2 against them this yer. If we win the last game vs UTA and our matchup at DEN (division record), we can win the tiebreaker. With SA's loss the standings are:
Blazers 48-30 (4 games to go)
Jazz 45-33 (4 games to go)
Spurs 45-34 (3 games to go)
Seems to me, if we win 1 Stinkin' game, 3rd seed is ours.
If Jazz win out, they end up with 49 wins, we have tiebreaker (I think).
If Spurs win out, they end up with 48 wins, short of our 49.
However, http://www.playoffstatus.com/nba/westernwinmagicnumbers.html says our magic number is 2.
I don't really get why.
Jazz can win 49 games and would have the tie breaker over Portland. Hence, magic number is 2. It can be either:With SA's loss the standings are:

All Portland needs to do is beat Utah. If Portland beats Utah, we're guaranteed a minimum of 49 wins. With that loss, the best Utah could do is win 48 games. Warriors will not let Utah sweep them so expect the Warriors in full forceIf Golden State beats the Jazz, and Portland wins against Denver, the game against Portland won't matter.
Regardless, Portland needs to stop losing.
2 wins in our last 3 games secures the 3rd seed.Damn I want that 3rd seed... anyone know how we secure it. Too much stuff going on with the West.
http://www.playoffstatus.com/nba/westernstandings.htmlDoes anyone know what is the lowest seed we could get if we lose out?
Thanks. So, 6th seed. That isn't up to date though.
Usually it updates every day but it hasn't updated for last night's Timberwolves vs. Nuggets game.Thanks. So, 6th seed.
