Not happenin...
We'll just see. I don't think the NBA should have ever decided to resume given that the nation never actually hit milestone's the white house said would be necessary for reopening but nevertheless the NBA did decide to resume. I don't think there have been close to enough positive tests around the league (which has been testing like crazy) to warrant your certainty. However I wouldn't be disagreeing with you if you were just saying you were skeptical that this is going to work because I am and even Adam Silver is. With that said, I do think you are completely wrong in saying it just won't happen. It's happening as we speak and they have quarantine protocols that will keep it happening even if there are a few more initial positive tests upon arrival. So the restart itself is happening, it's just a question of how far it will make it. If you're saying there's no chance the NBA actually gets to crown a champion this season then I'd say you're still way too certain but I see where you're coming from.

Check out what I found the other day below. I don't think it will happen. It might start, but it will not finish. But they will try their damnest to make a buck.

If you don’t think it will happen, then when will it happen? The conditions won’t be different next season. If this doesn’t work, no season next year either, CBA is torn up, lockout, etc, could be the end of the NBA altogether.

Again, the hospitals in Florida are filling up. Medical staffs are overworked. Today Pence has asked medical personnel to start to reuse PPE because we're running low again. If a player gets a Nurk or Paul George or Kevin Durant like injury do we really want to send them into that type of situation?

Serious injuries happen.

Nah, that's extreme. Its just too soon. Scrap this restart and focus on November. Anyone who wins will have such a large asterisk next to it anyhow that no one will take the title winner seriously this year. Its all about the money is the only reason they are trying and I think that's a terrible look.

You really think the owners will reduce the value of their billion dollar franchises to zero just to fuck the players out of money?

My man is going to hang 50 on somebody!!

Of course I had already read that article... I just said that even Adam Silver is skeptical but your certainty is a gross overreaction.

ok.
I have my opinion.
You have yours. Mine is it may start, but it wont finish.
Summer of covid is gonna take over.

as gross as it may be....

I'm hoping this turns out to be a successful situation....I wouldn't have risked any of it but they are so I'm going to hope they all stay healthy and they have transportation to get injured players to a safe facility if major injuries occur..medivac....Go Blazers! During the Influenza outbreak in 1918 they had more success with fresh air outdoor tents than indoor buildings treating patients....now you have to have doctors and nurses who aren't infected as well...that's a rough one.

They would be taken to an isolated part of the hospital where there aren't people infected with Covid.

Dude, it's a business. If the NBA doesn't make money, there will be no NBA. Covid won't be gone by November. Broadway shows have moved their openings to April and that's being a bit overoptimistic of them. If NBA doesn't make money, then they tear ups CBA, players won't agree with drastically lower salaries. If this Orlando thing doesn't work, I don't see any NBA til 2022 at the earliest.

It's not about fucking the players out of money. It's about there not be any money to pay the players. Players would have to agree to drastically lower salaries for the business model to work. Players aren't gonna like it. With less money to go around, there will be an even bigger debate over who gets how much.

have you seen the current hospital capacity rates in florida? Have a guess at what they will be like a month from now?

I think it all depends on how this summer goes, but clearly Florida is going to be out of control a month from now. I think players with money who cna sit out a year will take that over testing positive. and frankly, the players make way too much. Its time to brings sports salaries back down to earth a bit and reprioritize our spending as a society.

Do you think, as a player, they would rather have a zero salary over a 50% decrease on their current salary?

They will take the decrease.

of course they wont like it. But what choice will they have? Think about it Eric? You really think they will just say “forget it then. Ill go... be an insurance rep.“

They will take the decrease over no salary at all.

A lot of them have enough to retire on. Plus, there's playing overseas as an option. And Kyrie and Lavar have considered starting their own leagues.
