I think it is more than homelessness, but clearly it's all connected: poor leadership, businesses pulling out all over the place, trash, traffic, fucked up downtown, late night is now 9pm, fucking graffiti, shitty cops, drugs drugs drugs, stupid developments, high property taxes, etc etc...and yet houses/property still cost a fuck-ton here. I've loved this city until recently, so I get the good stuff too. The scales are just majorly tipping.Investors love a city that's got somewhere to grow. During the Balkan wars Soros bought every hotel and building he could in Sarajevo and Bosnia...those guys love to swoop in when things are down and get penny on the dollar deals. In Melo's case it's the wine industry and his involvement in lobbying for black businesses to take hold in America...more of an attraction to a state than just the urban homeless stuff in Portland metro. Popovich and CJ McCullom are invested in the wine business here......Melo knows entrepreneurs with serious money like Tyler Perry and Jay Z. He's well known in the black business community
Maybe we are primed to be taken advantage of by billionaires. It does kinda have that post-war, apocalyptic feel these days...haha.
