I don't think he lacked drive. He worked hard. What he lacked and still lacks is toughness. He's soft. He always will be.
if the NBA would allow for espresso time outs.....it'd help Nico alot

I don't miss Batum in the least. He was so over-rated. Remember him in the Memphis series, lolly gagging around like he was a 50 year old man in church league.

Why does it matter what I think at the time? I'm not the one making the decisions. That's why we're on a discussion forum, to discuss different ideas and opinions. Oh, and that decision was part of the reason KP got canned.

I swear some people on here wince at the sight of any criticism, and will argue the positives of anything and everything. Of course there's a reason deals are made. There is an underlying reason for every single deal ever made. I can see the context and still admit that it didn't work.

Hell yes it matters what you thought at the time. People who use hindsight sound foolish. Because you come in here with hindsight criticizing like you knew how the trade was going to turn out when all you did was get new information to form what is probably the opposite of the opinion you had at the time.

That's bush league.

To your 2nd "point", I don't give a damn if people criticize NO. I'll criticize the shit out of him if he trades Harkless for Ryan Anderson.

Wasn't the story Denver was offering a 2nd and Nurk for Plums? And we we agreed to trade for Okafor. Then at the last second Denver upped it to a 1st?

That would seem like someone that valued Okafor over Nurk and wanted tht pick to take what he viewed as a lesser player.

Could be wrong though.

That's where people are forgetting to give his props. He used Philly as leverage to get the first-rounder that he wanted. He never wanted to trade for Okafor. He wanted that first round draft pick then he got it. Now (imma start calling you negative MFs Nancies) nancies want to say oh he lucked into getting Nurk...

Neil went out and got our #3 and people STILL find negative things to say about THAT trade...

Wow. This thread has taken a peculiar turn. Almost 2,000 posts now and still no information worth noting? You'd think that we were desperate for something to happen.

NY - desperate to get rid of 'Melo....don't want Anderson or Leonard.
HOU - really wants 'Melo....don't want Anderson or Leonard.
POR - desperate to get out of some bad contracts...don't want Anderson or Leonard.

Nobody wants Meyers or Anderson......and fans are dumbstruck?

Or you could look at it that Olshey accepted a deal for Okafor because Denver was only offering Nurkic and a 2nd. If Denver wouldn't have offered the 1st you could say he was going to trade for Okafor.

Obviously they did, but it seems like all the parts are there for ya'll to admit he valued Okafor the player over Nurkic at that time.

I do give him props for squeezing out that 1st rounder though.

Nobody knows what the return would be, but all indications are that Anderson is in the deal. If New York would take Anderson the deal would be done already. So he's either going to Portland or a 4th team.

No, if we were going to take him then the deal would already be done.

That never happened tho. There was never an acceptance of any deal. Here's the thing:

Neil doesn't leak anything. Right? Riiiight..

Not one thing.

Neil FIRES MFs over leaks.... Ask Kim.

When you hear about a NO deal, it's right after it happened not anytime before. So he leaks info about the Okafor "deal" in an effort to squeeze the shit out of Denver. He succeeds at squeezing a first out of Denver.

MFs should just give credit where it's due.

When people are entertaining the idea of having Anderson on the team, yeah it's getting pretty fucking desperate...

:biglaugh:

You gotta laugh to keep from crying!

I don't think you can make an argument that Turner is better than Batum at anything. Turners assist % in his lone season in Portland was lower than Nic's in his last 3 with Portland.

His handles may be better, but it sure doesn't lead to any meaningful results. Batum was at least a difference maker in many other aspects of the game.
Batum and difference maker should never be used in the same sentence...

Sorry, gonna call bullshit in this one. It's called negotiating. Neil was playing DEN and PHI against each other to get the best deal he could. If he had valued Okafor over Nurkic, we'd have Okafor on our team right now.
